Biggest Deals Of The Summer Transfer Window (2025)

The summer transfer window always fills fans with excitement, as their teams search far and wide to recruit new players to bolster their team’s chances before the new season kicks off.
In this blog we take a look at six of the biggest signings of the summer transfer window so far. If you’re interested in how transfers work in football, read our previous blog here.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle United to Liverpool) – £125 million
The longest-running saga of the 2025 summer transfer window is over and Alexander Isak is officially a Liverpool player. Football fans were asking ‘will he, won’t he’ about Isak leaving Newcastle United for the past few months and the Reds struck a deal to take the Sweden striker to Anfield.
He has been prolific since arriving in the Premier League and many believe that Isak cements Liverpool’s status as the team to beat in this year’s competition. The defending champions have invested heavily (more to come) but Isak might just be the crown jewel of their business this summer.
Newcastle’s loss is very much Liverpool’s gain and Isak could make the difference as the Reds look to fight on multiple fronts. Retaining the Premier League crown will be objective number one but Liverpool are very much contenders in every competition in 2025/26.
Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool) – £116 million
Arne Slot managed to win the Premier League at the first time of asking without signing any players and that makes you wonder what he could do with his squad after splashing the cash. Well… we’re about to find out.
Liverpool have broken the bank to land Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz for a British transfer record-breaking fee of £116 million. It was their biggest purchase since they brought in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton (before Isak came along!) and the Anfield faithful will be hoping for a similar impact from their new signing.
Wirtz is an attacking midfielder with bags of talent and an eye for goal. His goal contributions in the Bundesliga over the past two seasons helped his side to an unbeaten title-winning campaign in 2023/24 and second place last season.
At just 23 years of age he is considered one of Europe’s most exciting young players. The Reds will be hoping Slot can get even more out of Wirtz to help them defend their Premier League title, with the German expected to take some of the weight off of Mohamed Salah’s shoulders.

Hugo Ekitiké (Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool) – £82 million
Liverpool have continued their aggressive summer recruitment with the signing of French forward Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt for £82 million.
Still only 23, Ekitiké has been on the radar of Europe’s elite since his breakout season with Reims, and after a short stint in Germany, he now joins a Liverpool side looking to balance youth and experience in attack.
With Luis Díaz departing, Ekitiké brings pace, flair and versatility. Arne Slot’s system should suit his dynamic playing style, and if he adjusts to the Premier League quickly, he could become a long-term successor in Liverpool’s frontline.
Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford to Manchester United) – £71 million
Bryan Mbeumo turned a lot of heads last season with his 20 goals and eight assists as a winger. Granted, the magic created by Mohamed Salah in the same position slightly stole the spotlight from what was a remarkable season for Mbeumo.
Manchester United are in dire need of an attacking resurgence, and they’ve clearly had this man in mind to justify the whopping £71m price tag, with Brentford licking their lips having bought him for under 10% of the price back in 2019.
Jury’s out as to whether he can have the same impact in this Manchester United side, but he’s a fan favourite and we’re sure everyone will be keeping an eye on his progress at his new club.
Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace to Arsenal) – £68 million
Formerly part of Arsenal’s academy, Eberechi Eze is set to return to North London in controversial fashion, chosing his childhood club over rivals Tottenham, who had reportedly agreed terms with the forward weeks ago.
Arsenal’s hijack of the deal was prompted by the news of Kai Havertz’ injury, and within 24 hours, the Gunners set the wheels in motion to snap up the Crystal Palace playmaker for £68 million – a similar price to what his release clause was before it expired earlier in the transfer window.
Spurs fans will be recoiling after having had a strong grip on the deal, and questions will be asked around how the club managed to let Eze slip from their grasps and head to the Emirates. It’s not the first time Tottenham have been left in the dust and a player has chosen the red side of North London over the white…
Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig to Manchester United) – £66 million
The Slovenian striker arrives at Old Trafford with a growing reputation, having netted 39 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions during his two-year spell in Germany. He will be seen as part of a wider attacking overhaul at United, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo also joining the ranks.
United fans will be eager to see how their new attacking trio can reshape the forward line, which has struggled for consistency and firepower in recent seasons. If Šeško can adapt quickly to the challenges of the Premier League, he could become the focal point of United’s attack and a key figure in their push for silverware.
Luis Díaz (Liverpool to Bayern Munich) – £65.5 million
After three years at Anfield, Colombian winger Luis Díaz has swapped the Premier League for the Bundesliga in a £65.5 million move to Bayern Munich.
Despite showing flashes of brilliance during his time with Liverpool, competition for places and the arrival of Florian Wirtz meant Díaz was allowed to leave. Bayern were quick to act, viewing him as a dynamic, direct winger who can help in their upcoming league campaign and achieve back-to-back titles in the Bundesliga.
Díaz managed 20 goal contributions for Liverpool last season. His pace and dribbling will offer a different option in the wide areas for Bayern, where he could thrive with the added support of Michael Olise and Harry Kane.
Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting Lisbon to Arsenal) – £64 million
The former Brighton and Coventry City forward lit up the Portuguese league with an astonishing 97 goals in 102 appearances over two seasons in Lisbon. With the Gunners finishing second in the Premier League three years in a row, the need for a clinical centre-forward has never been clearer.
Last season, injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz forced Mikel Merino into a makeshift striker role, so Arsenal fans will hope their new signing can bring physicality, pace, and goals to their attacking force. If he adapts quickly, he could be the missing piece in their pursuit of a long-awaited Premier League title.
Matheus Cunha (Wolves to Manchester United) – £62.5 million
Manchester United had a pretty poor season last year, by anyone’s standards. It’s been clear for a while that big changes have been needed to be made in the squad, and red-hot Wolves forward Matheus Cunha could just make a difference next season.
Signed for £62.5m, Red Devils supporters will be hoping this major price tag will prove a bargain as they kick off next season. Cunha tore it up last season for Wolves and managed to score 15 goals in the Premier League whilst also getting six assists. This could be a fantastic addition to the squad, but the board will be hoping it won’t be another underperformer like it has been with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Martín Zubimendi (Real Sociedad to Arsenal) – £60 million
Martín Zubimendi has been rumoured to join the Premier League for around 12 months now, and having brushed aside Premier League champions Liverpool, the Spaniard has opted instead for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
They’ve always expressed interest in the central defensive midfielder, but to drag him away from a club he’s been at for almost 10 years (as a 26-year-old) required the significant price tag of £60m.
Arsenal are slowly adding to the ranks in their bid to finally get over the line in any competition and secure some silverware.
Illia Zabarnyi (Bournemouth to PSG) – £57 million
Bournemouth’s new reputation for developing top defensive talent continues, with the departure of their 22-year-old Ukrainian centre-back who made 86 appearances since joining in 2023. His exit brings the Cherries’ total profit from defender sales to nearly £150 million following high-profile moves by Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and Milos Kerkez to Liverpool. The south coast club has quietly become a breeding ground for internationally recognised defensive talent.
