Chelsea Predictions 2024/25

Another summer of wholesale change at Chelsea makes the upcoming 2024/25 season another difficult one to predict for the Blues, whose fans will be hoping for some more clarity on what exactly Todd Boehly’s vision for the club is.

Chelsea finished sixth in last season’s Premier League but were pipped to a Europa League place by Manchester United’s FA Cup victory, with the UEFA Conference League making up the fourth competition Enzo Maresca’s side will compete in this term.

We preview all four of their shots at silverware this season below.

Premier League – 22/1

It seems almost inconceivable that it’s been seven years since Chelsea found themselves in a title race of any capacity – winning the Premier League in 2017 under Antonio Conte – but it doesn’t seem as if the Blues will be challenging the top spots in the English top flight this season either.

Their odds of 22/1 to win the league are level with Manchester United in fourth, with Manchester City (6/5), Arsenal (13/8) and Liverpool (13/2) all ahead of them in the betting.

Chelsea are no strangers to Italian managers coming in and winning the league in their first season – see Carlo Ancelotti in 2010 and the aforementioned Conte seven years later – but it’s unlikely fans of the Blues will be holding their breath over a shock Premier League coup this term.

FA Cup – 9/1

Chelsea may find some more joy in domestic cups in their quest for a first major trophy since the Champions League in 2021, though they will have to overcome an embarrassing ongoing record in knockout finals, with last season’s extra-time defeat to Liverpool in their Carabao Cup showdown seeing them become the first club to lose six consecutive finals at Wembley.

The Blues at one point won four FA Cups out of six between 2007 and 2012 but have now lifted just one in the past 12. Their odds of 9/1 again put them in the mix for this season’s competition – narrowly ahead of Manchester United in fifth and again behind City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

English League Cup – 10/1

It’s a similar story for Chelsea in the League Cup, with the Blues considered a shade less likely at 10/1 to pick up the other domestic knockout competition this season, again putting them fourth in the betting.

One thing Chelsea certainly don’t lack is squad depth, so their ability to rotate their starting XI in the preliminary stages of the competition and still field a strong side will likely prove valuable if they are to go all in the way this time. Their aforementioned Wembley record will of course be a concern towards the latter stages of the competition if they get there, but that 10/1 price should slowly start to trickle down by the start of winter.

UEFA Conference League

The fourth edition of the UEFA Conference League is yet to have an outright winner market due to the abundance of qualifiers currently taking place, but Chelsea will likely immediately be installed as favourites to become the first club to win every UEFA competition.

The competition is still in its infancy and will certainly provide a hinderance to Chelsea’s Premier League campaign, with the traditional Thursday – Sunday scheduling an undesirable setup in the long run, but should the Blues put their mind to the competition and make the most of their aforementioned squad depth, Enzo Maresca’s side should have no difficulty at all in getting to the latter stages and potentially winning their first major trophy since 2021.
