Final One Standing Eliminations After West Ham Defeat To Brentford
More than 3,000 players have been eliminated from William Hill’s Final One Standing free-to-play game after West Ham’s 2-0 home defeat to Brentford on Monday night.
Heading into the latest Gameweek, just under 8,000 players remained in the running for the £500,000 jackpot, but the Hammers’ latest setback saw that number tumble to 4,740.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were a popular pick among players hoping for a routine home win, yet goals from Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen stunned the London Stadium and delivered another wave of eliminations in football’s latest survival game.
Despite the setback for many, with popular picks Sunderland and Chelsea securing three points, nearly 5,000 players remain in contention ahead of Gameweek 9, where participants are expected to face some tough decisions with a set of Premier League fixtures that could go either way.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “West Ham’s defeat to Brentford was a tough one to take for more than 3,000 players in our free-to-play Final One Standing game, with many expecting Nuno Espirito Santo to stop the Hammers’ slide down the table. Instead, Keith Andrews’ side delivered a blow to the East Londoners.
“Just under 8,000 players were still alive before this round, but we’re now down to fewer than 5,000 chasing the £500,000 jackpot, with the two most popular picks – Sunderland and Chelsea – proving shrewd selections.
“The good news for players who fell at the latest hurdle is that those eliminated can still get back in the action with our additional jackpots, while the remaining players edge ever closer to being the Final One Standing.”
