The rules are simple: players pick one Premier League team to win each game week. Get it right and you stay in, get it wrong and you’re out – all while chasing the ultimate £500,000 jackpot. But you can only pick each team once across the competition, so strategy is key as the season unfolds. Check out some tips and tricks to succeed at Final One Standing.
More than 24,000 players were eliminated in the second week of the £500k jackpot league of Final One Standing, William Hill’s new free-to-play Premier League game, after a dramatic weekend of results.
Aston Villa’s defeat to Brentford knocked out the most players last week, with 6,195 players (5.5%) backing Unai Emery’s side.
There were more eliminations across the board as 12 teams failed to win, including Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Fulham, taking the total number of players out of the £500k jackpot league this week to 24,144.
Tottenham remain the most popular pick for players so far, though just 241 players (0.2% of entries) chose them in gameweek two compared to over 80,000 in gameweek one.
For the 113,131 entrants in gameweek two of the £500k jackpot league, Arsenal were by far the standout selection, with nearly 47,000 players (41.5%) backing them – and they delivered, ensuring safe passage for almost half of the remaining pool following their crushing victory over Leeds.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Aston Villa’s defeat at Brentford was the big shock of gameweek two, with more than 6,000 players seeing their chances of the £500k jackpot ended.
“In total over 24,144 players were knocked out this week as the likes of West Ham, Wolves and Sunderland also failed to deliver, but Arsenal’s win saved almost half the field (41.5% of entrants). Over 78% of players clawed through to the next round.
“Chelsea and Bournemouth also proved popular picks, with 18,412 and 17,364 players respectively getting through to the next round, while 5,416 misplaced their trust in Man City to do the business. At the other end of the scale, just 181 players went for Newcastle and 264 picked Leeds – both of which backfired.
“With two gameweeks down, it’s already proving how tough Final One Standing is – and with the one-pick rule, strategy becomes more important every week. The 88,987 players still standing need to submit their gameweek three selections by 12:30pm on Saturday. Those eliminated can join the new £50k league, available now on the William Hill app.”
