Lee Phelps’ Premier League picks: Can Villa do it again?

| BY News Team

What a Premier League season this is turning out to be for goals and excitement, every week we seem to be getting a crazy game and I can tell you the William Hill traders could do with a few nil nils!

Wolves v Nottingham Forest

Anyway I can’t see that happening too much this weekend, with some great fixtures. One that caught my eye that may not fit into that description is Wolves v Nottingham Forest. If you look at the home form for Gary O’Neil’s side, you’ll see they’re unbeaten in five with wins against Man City and Tottenham, as well as draws against Newcastle and Aston Villa. Forest have picked up four points from a possible 24 on the road and appear to be in a mess off the pitch too. The home side are a touch of odds on, which is good enough for me but I’d happily add in both teams to score and get 3/1.

Aston Villa v Arsenal

Aston Villa were just over 3/1 to beat Man City in the week and they’re just over 2/1 to beat Arsenal. People are talking about Villa being title contenders, but then the same people were probably saying the same about Spurs in October.

I wasn’t convinced Villa could win but did put up the home win and both teams to score at 6/1 because surely they couldn’t win to nil against the Champions, right? Wrong!

I don’t think I’ll be wrong twice though, so I’m willing to trust Villa and the both teams to score angle again at almost 5/1.

Tottenham v Newcastle

Finally, two sides vying for a Champions League spot go head-to-head in the final game of the Premier League weekend. Newcastle were soundly beaten by Everton on Thursday, but they do throw a bad performance in now and again, and often Eddie Howe gets a reaction. They lost to Bournemouth and beat Chelsea 4-1 in the next game.

Tottenham’s 10 game unbeaten start to the league season, now has a five-game winless run with four defeats – the latest the home loss to West Ham. I think our traders consistently underestimate Newcastle and a 2/1 price with Spurs in the form they’re in is too big, 4/1 with both teams scoring is my bet, but if you don’t like that Anthony Gordon to score at over 2/1 is worth a look.
