Lee Phelps’ Premier League Picks: Nkunku to continue scoring start

Here we are in the midst of the Christmas fixture list and three games to look at with a bet in each.

First up Brentford host Wolves and after their win over Chelsea last time you’d be forgiven for thinking the away team are the bet here at nearly 3/1, but the issue is their away form is nowhere near the return they get at Molineaux – they’re winless in their last 14 matches.

The Bees aren’t in good form anywhere but have had a break because their match with Man City was postponed while the champions were away winning the Club World Cup. I can’t make an argument for either side to win so let’s sit on the fence and go for the draw.

If picking a winner in that game is tricky, surely Chelsea should beat Palace at home! They’re only a touch of odds on, so probably worth a go but the bet I prefer is a scorer.

Christopher Nkunku scored his first goal for the Blues in the 2-1 loss to Wolves and with both Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer banned he should get a start. He’s 2/1 to score in the game and that will do for me.

Finally, the champions are at Everton and although the Toffees are on a good run, I think this will be a step too far against a City side who must start winning again.

Erling Haaland’s expected to be fit to play – after not playing in either Club World Cup match and if he does I’ll go for him to get two or more at 9/2. If he doesn’t pick Alvarez to get a goal in a City win.
