Loudest Supporters In The Premier League

Which Premier League venue is the most hostile when it comes to noise? The biggest stadium doesn’t necessary translate to being the loudest stadium, as you’ll find out…

Here, we give our take on the loudest Premier League fans and these stadiums are all well worth a visit for atmosphere alone. So without further ado, let’s get going.

Crystal Palace

While just five top flight clubs have a lower average attendance figure than the Eagles, Crystal Palace fans are renowned for creating a cauldron of noise at Selhurst Park.

The club’s ultras gather in the corner of the Homesdale Stand, starting chant after chant and the rest of the ground instantly comes to life. It truly is a sight to behold.

In terms of English football, Crystal Palace’s Homesdale Stand is about as close as we get to Borussia Dortmund’s famous ‘Yellow Wall’ and the club’s famous blue and red colours are blazoned all over that side of the ground.

Liverpool

Some will tell you that Anfield isn’t worthy of a spot on this list but when you get 61,000 Liverpudlians singing in unison, it is simply breathtaking and it’s a moment that you just sit back and take in.

The hairs stand up on the back of the neck when the Kop End rises as one, scarves aloft and belting out You’ll Never Walk Alone. It’s a song that is – and forever will be – synonymous with the Merseyside city.

Hostile under the floodlights on a European night, there have been plenty of ‘I was there’ moments at Anfield over the years and Liverpool supporters will never be silenced.

Aston Villa

Villa Park is a stadium that is steeped in history and heritage, and it remains one of the oldest football grounds in the top flight. While most newer venues tick more boxes for the matchday experience, there is no problem whatsoever with atmosphere here.

Often one of the venues selected to host an FA Cup semi-final before the new Wembley Stadium was built, Villa Park is one of the iconic stadiums in English football and the noise levels have gone up a notch since the arrival of Unai Emery.

Aston Villa are competing in the Champions League this season, hosting the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus. The noise at Villa Park will be defeaning.

Arsenal

The mood around the Emirates Stadium nowadays is ten times that from a decade or so ago and there is a real carnival atmosphere on matchdays now. Opposing teams now travel to Arsenal knowing that a good hiding may be in store.

The club have worked hard to develop a ‘testing’ atmosphere around the ground and the Ashburton Army do a terrific job of rousing the home fans. When the Gunners are on-song on the pitch, the decibel levels go up a notch.

A first Premier League title in over 20 years could be on the cards in the coming years. If Arsenal lift the trophy, the Emirates Stadium will experience a whole new level of noise.

Newcastle United

Everybody loves a city centre football stadium and the atmosphere around Newcastle on a matchday is second to none. And that can be felt throughout St James Park, where the most passionate supporters in the Premier League can be found.

Memories of the miserable Mike Ashley era have been replaced by hope and aspirations of silverware and success that the Newcastle supporters have been craving for so many years.

Whether they win a trophy or not this season, they take top spot in our list of the loudest Premier League supporters.
