William Hill have cut the odds on Liverpool signing Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi this summer, following comments earlier this week from club chairman Steve Parish that the defender could be sold.

Arne Slot’s side remain active in the market despite heavy investment in attacking options, and are now 4/7 to add Guehi’s signature, from 11/10 last week.

Bet on the Premier League at William Hill

With the Reds suffering a penalty shootout defeat to Crystal Palace in Sunday’s Community Shield, the defending Premier League champions may look to bolster their squad before the summer window slams shut.

Chelsea’s chances of signing Guehi appear to be waning, having drifted to 11/2 from 5/2, while Newcastle’s odds of adding the defender have lengthened further to 12/1, having been as short as 5/2 earlier in the window.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “After Crystal Palace’s failed appeal against their Europa League demotion, and comments from chairman Steve Parish, it looks as though defender Marc Guehi could be heading for an exit, with Liverpool emerging as his most likely destination.

“Guehi’s price to join the Reds has shortened significantly since Palace’s Community Shield victory yesterday afternoon, and he is now just 4/7 from 11/10 to join Arne Slot’s team.

“Chelsea (11/2 from 5/2) and Newcastle (12/1 from 5/2) are also in contention for Guehi, but it looks likely that we could see him join the Anfield side before the summer window closes.”

Will Liverpool get the deal over the line or will Palace hold off? Guehi doesn’t have long left on his contract but Palace are demanding a significant fee so it’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
