Premier League preview: Could Tottenham vs Chelsea loser sack their manager?

| BY News Team

Matchweek 25 brings with it some critical fixtures, perhaps most importantly Tottenham vs Chelsea on Sunday, with both sides in need of a good result.

We preview the tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and two more outstanding Premier League weekend fixtures.

Leicester City v Arsenal

This game is predictably unpredictable as we reach the point in the season where the current form tells us one thing, but the magic of football produces another. Arsenal go into the game as clear favourites at 7/10 with Leicester at 18/5, and looking at the results of the two sides throughout the season, you would pick your favourite quite quickly.

And rightly so. Arsenal have been fantastic this season from the get-go, and Leicester have been incredibly poor. The Foxes have already lost 13 matches and sit in 14th in the table, while Arsenal are holding firm at the summit of the league with a game in hand. Despite all of this, 29/10 for a draw looks increasingly attractive as we edge towards the business end of the domestic season.

Leicester dominated Manchester United in the first half of their tie last weekend, missing two golden chances to go ahead that on another day against a different keeper may have gone in. With the quality that Leicester have, they can certainly damage teams and they were unlucky not to score against United. If they play the same way this weekend, they could hurt Arsenal.

Leicester are interestingly 5/1 to score in both halves – a punt that could offer amazing value. With James Maddison back in action supplying balls to Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho, Arsenal could be in for a tough day. Maddison is 4/1 to score at any time, and both teams to score is odds on at 4/6. There are certainly some high-value opportunities in this one.

Leeds United v Southampton

The 2022/23 relegation battle is upon us, and we are accompanied by some familiar faces. Southampton and Leeds have struggled this season for reasons that aren’t easily identifiable. Both sides possess experience and talent, and both have a passionate fan base behind them, both home and away.

The two sides are neck and neck at the bottom of the table; Southampton are on 18 points, and Leeds are only one better off, occupying 19th place. The Saints, however, have the better form coming into this match, winning two of their last five, so backing them at 27/10 could be a good option.

Leeds have looked good recently but just seem unable to get results. They are evens here, with striker Wilfried Gnonto is 4/1 to have over one shot on target, something that is even more likely considering the state of Southampton’s defence, which has conceded 40 goals this season.

It is a game that may be decided by fine margins rather than domination from one side and could perhaps turn into a game of attrition, with free kicks and corners the main source of goal-scoring chances. With that in mind, over two goals, over three cards and over 10 corners at 11/2 offers fantastic return potential and could make for an exciting watch.

Tottenham v Chelsea

This is a great time for Tottenham to play Chelsea as the Blues find themselves in a crisis that has shown no signs of correcting itself just yet.

Chelsea will surely be a force to reckon with once again in the near future, but for now they are 10th in the Premier League and up against a Spurs side fresh off the back of a convincing win against West Ham.

Harry Kane is on course for one of his best ever seasons and has made an impact every time he has stepped on the pitch for his club. It is hard to overlook odds of 12/1 for Kane to score first with Spurs to win and both teams to score, as their defence is likewise leaky at the moment.

Spurs are 6/4 to get the win with Chelsea at 9/5. Chelsea of course offer some threat with their collection of quality all over the pitch, but until Graham Potter establishes his regular starting eleven, it is hard to see Chelsea really threatening any of the top four contenders.

That being said, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz have better odds to score than any of the Spurs players apart from Harry Kane. They are both 5/2 to score anytime and will hope to make an impact, as it is likely Spurs will find a way to score with the form Kane is in. Chelsea will therefore have to match that or outscore their London rivals if they want any kind of result here. Both teams to score is 4/5 with over 3.5 goals in the match at 12/5.
