Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked

| BY News Team

The 2024/25 Premier League season may still be in its infancy, but the futures of some top-flight managers look to already be in doubt.

We analyse the most likely gaffers to receive the boot next, as per the current betting market.

Bet on Football with William Hill

Erik ten Hag – 4/6

Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United boss seemed to have had new life breathed into it after an FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May and a summer of promising transfers, but the Red Devils’ season is in danger of unravelling at an alarming rate.

Eight points from their opening seven games has broken Ten Hag’s own record from last season as United’s worst ever start to a Premier League campaign, and things easily could have been even worse were it not for two laboured draws away to Porto and Aston Villa– both of which seemed to provoke further questions rather than answers.

Ten Hag’s odds of 4/6 to be the first manager to leave their club this season makes him the clear favourite in the market.

Gary O’Neil – 3/1

There was a big sense of optimism around the West Midlands when Wolves went on a very strong mid-season run under former Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil last year. However, a limp end to the campaign and an awful beginning to their 2024/45 season has sobered any degree of momentum for the Molineux faithful.

Wolves find themselves bottom of the table after six defeats from their opening seven fixtures, conceded an eye-watering 21 goals in the process. With key players like Max Kilman and Pedro Neto yet to be replaced after departing in the summer, some fans may have some sympathy for O’Neil, but he nevertheless occupies second in the betting at 3/1.

Russell Martin – 10/3

Eyebrows were raised when Southampton managed to pip Leeds United to the final promotion place from the Championship when they beat them in spring’s Playoff Final, with Russell Martin’s style of possession football delighting the St Mary’s faithful and sending a warning to the rest of the Premier League that they weren’t there to simply sit back and frustrate their opposition.

However, it’s been a sobering start to the season for the Saints, picking up just one point from their opening seven fixtures and occupying 19th in the table. Their four goals scored is also the lowest in the division so far, so naturally the suitability of Martin’s style of play in the English top flight is starting to face some questions.

Sean Dyche – 12/1

Everton boss Sean Dyche was at one point the market favourite to be the next manager to leave their post after a dismal start to the campaign which saw them lose their opening four games and concede 13 goals, but his price has eased in recent weeks after guiding the Toffees to five points from their last three fixtures.

Dyche is still not completely out of the woods at 12/1 to be the first managerial casualty this season, but with fixtures against Ipswich, Fulham and Southampton coming up after the international break, the former Burnley boss will be looking to strike while the iron’s hot and pull his side even further away from the relegation zone.
