Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked

| BY News Team

The 2023/24 Premier League season has witnessed only three managerial departures so far, but as the stakes get higher, some clubs may begin to flinch.

We analyse the most likely managers to receive the boot next, as per the current betting market.

Vincent Kompany – 10/3

Burnley’s return to the Premier League was characterised by a new brand of football not seen before at Turf Moor, with former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany overseeing a complete revamp of the Clarets’ approach to the game.

However, despite some pundits predicting a mid-table finish for the Lancashire side, it’s not been the dream return to England’s top flight that many would have expected. The Clarets occupy 19th place in the Premier League and are now level on points with bottom side Sheffield United after a humiliating 5-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, and Kompany’s odds of 10/3 to be the next manager to leave look somewhat precarious.

David Moyes – 7/2

It’s a debate that is likely to divide opinions, but rightly or wrongly, David Moyes once again finds his position at West Ham under threat after a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League.

He may have won the Hammers their first ever European trophy less than a year ago and were sixth in the division recently, but complaints about their style of play and whether he is the best person to make the most out of their expensively-assembled attack will always linger while the Scot sticks to his trusted methods.

No manager to leave – 4/1

Perhaps surprisingly, the third most likely selection in the next manager to leave market is for there to be no gaffer to depart the Premier League between now and the end of the season. This is perhaps a testament to the fact that only three managers have been sacked all season and clubs are beginning to stick to their guns, or maybe there is a lack of feasible managerial alternatives on offer right now should a club decide to part ways with their head coach.

Chris Wilder – 6/1

Chris Wilder was the beneficiary of Paul Heckingbottom’s dismissal from Sheffield United earlier in the season after failing to marshal his side off the foot of the Premier League, returning to the club with the aim of overseeing a great escape. However, fast forward two months and nothing has changed for the south Yorkshire side, who are staring down the barrel of relegation back to the Championship again unless something dramatic happens.

The club may therefore look to change who is at the helm for the third time this season in a last-ditch attempt to save their season. As such, Wilder’s odds of 6/1 to be the next manager to leave suggest he is flirting with danger once again.
