League 2

The beginning of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign is almost here, and there’s several outright markets to get stuck into before the season kicks off on Friday evening.

One of the most popular and hotly contested each year is the Top Goalscorer market. Our list looks at the most likely contenders as well as some value at bigger prices.

Bet on the Premier League Top Goalscorer with William Hill

Erling Haaland – 8/13

There’s no other place to start than with Manchester City forward Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has won both Golden Boots since arriving on these shores two summers ago, propelling himself into being considered one of the best players in world football. Both victories have been routine, winning by six goals in 22/23 and five goals in 23/24, seeing off Cole Palmer who threatened to push him all the way.

Whilst he is a short price, if he can stay fit it’s hard to see any player threatening to better his tally this season. With the amount of chances City create and the deadly finishing abilities Haaland possesses, he is the obvious idea of this year’s winner.

Alexander Isak – 11/1

At a slightly bigger price, Alexander Isak of Newcastle appeals. It seems as if he’s made the centre forward position at the club his own now and is undoubtedly one of the most talented strikers in the league.

Finishing a clear third in the goal standings last season, Isak netted 21 goals whilst having to share minutes with Callum Wilson in a season where Newcastle struggled. Isak will now likely take up a more primary role in the side, without the added pressure of European competition and he looks primed to strike this season.

Ollie Watkins – 16/1

Fresh off the back of his Euro 2024 semi-final heroics for England, Watkins will be looking to continue his form from the previous campaign. The forward netted 19 goals last season and looks set to go again this year. Since joining Aston Villa, he has gradually improved on his goal tally year-on-year and any repeat of last season’s form will see him in the hunt for the Boot this season.

Jarrod Bowen – 66/1

Jarrod Bowen is the first of our two bigger-priced selections, however in 13 of the last 24 seasons at least one player at odds of 66/1 or bigger has placed in the Top Goalscorer market, so it could pay to consider some players at bigger prices.

Bowen sticks out at his price of 66/1, the West Ham winger finished off last year’s campaign with 16 goals. However, for much of the season Bowen was amongst the top five scorers in the league before tailing off towards the end of the season. If he can find that goalscoring form again and keep it up throughout the season, there’s no reason to believe he won’t be in with a shout come next May.

Rodrigo Muniz – 80/1

Our last selection comes in the form of Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz. The Brazilian burst onto the scene last season for the Whites, enjoying a purple patch in February and March where he scored eight goals. Marco Silva looks to have kept the faith with the young forward, by not signing a striker in the transfer window with Muniz looking set to be the man up top at Craven Cottage.

Fulham have made a notable attacking signing in the form of Emile Smith-Rowe, his arrival could be very helpful in supplementing Muniz with chances this season. The form he showed at a point last season displayed his ability, and he’s one to keep onside at a big price.
