Premier League Relegation – Who is going to get relegated?

| BY News Team

As the title race hots up, so does the battle lower down the table as teams fight it out to retain their place in England’s topflight.

Below we delve into the contenders and predictions for which teams might face the dreaded drop from the Premier League. Gain valuable insights into the factors, form, fixtures and players shaping this critical battle for survival this season with only four precious games remaining.

Everton – 25/1

Everton seem to have hit needed form in their last two games, with two 2-0 home victories against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool which have since put them in a better position and are most likely safe from the drop despite their various point deductions. Everton had been as short as 3/1 to face relegation succeeding their 6-0 thrashing by Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea. However, the Toffees still have a big hand to play in the relegation run-in with Luton and Sheffield United two of their upcoming opponents.

With three goals from four games, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a key component to Everton’s recent success, allowing them to earn the necessary points to push them further from the danger zone.

Nottingham Forest 6/4

With just two games won in their previous 10, Nottingham Forest have been something of the reverse of Everton in terms of establishing their form in the pivotal closing parts of the season and find themselves just one point outside of the relegation zone. Forest’s transfer history has come under quite considerable scrutiny over the past few seasons but their attacking recruits, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi all still seem to behold the talent to pose a threat to any team in the league. There may be an element of not having had enough time to gel as a team, and if they do manage to stay afloat in the Premier League, there is no doubt that better things could come from Nuno Espírito Santo’s men.

With regards to the remaining games of this season, Nottingham Forest are yet to face Man City, Sheffield United, Chelsea and Burnley. If you consider their matches against Chelsea and Manchester City to be free shots at extra points, then their away matches against Burnley and Sheffield United look to be enormously important must-win matches.

Luton Town 2/7

At the moment, Luton Town are one point behind Nottingham Forest in 18th place. Despite many people’s doubts, Luton have proved to be a very impressive outfit overall this season. The return of Ross Barkley, who has five goals and four assists this season, has been a major factor in Luton’s sporadically strong performances. If Luton want to remain in the Premier League next season, Barkley’s success must continue.

Given that Luton’s final games are against Wolves, Everton, West Ham and Fulham, they may have the “best” remaining four games in terms of points available. When the final whistle blows in their game at Wolves, there won’t be any more extensive trips in the team coach on the horizon which could prove advantageous for the Hatters. The final three games for Luton are all scheduled to take place in London, so they will have some additional time to prepare for these crucial battles.

Burnley 1/14

Burnley have been the victorious team only five times this year, and sadly, it doesn’t seem like they will have many more opportunities to turn the tables in the remaining games. Having said that, Burnley defeated Sheffield United, the only team behind them, 4-1 in their most recent match. They could take some confidence from this decisive win into their final four games against Man United, Newcastle, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.

Burnley’s odds of 1/14 to play in the Championship the next season are backed up by their last four fixtures. They don’t appear to have the cutting-edge attacking threat to get them over the finish line for all three points and as a result have drawn far too many games which have proved detrimental to their Premier League campaign.

Sheffield Utd1/5000

Unfortunately for Sheffield United, their time in the Premier League seems to be over for another year. They don’t seem to have enough quality on the pitch to win games, having only collected all three points on just three occasions this season.

They find themselves at 1/5000 and it looks most likely that they will finish bottom of the Premier League table when the curtains are drawn on the 2023/24 season.

Prediction

Given everything, including the clubs past results and form, Burnley and Sheffield United are most likely to finish in 19th and 20th place. The final spot is still very much up for grabs between Luton and Nottingham Forest, and we believe that the traveling factor could separate the two.

Nottingham Forest’s remaining two games look to be a higher mountain to climb as they still have to play Chelsea and Manchester City and, due to this we believe that Forest, along with Burnley and Sheffield United, will be the last team to be relegated at 6/4.
