Group C is set for its most mouth-watering affair when Paris Saint-Germain host Liverpool at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. Just two points separate first placed Napoli and fourth-placed Red Star Belgrade with PSG and Liverpool squidged inbetween.
PSG vs Liverpool: odds and predictions
Thomas Tuchel’s men are priced up as the betting favourites by the William Hill traders with their odds picked at a 23/10 tip. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds meanwhile trade as outsiders with their odds wagering at 11/5 for the win.
A sharing of the spoils of has been priced up at 14/5 and our PSG vs Liverpool predictions are backing exactly that – with the caveat of a lot of goals.
The two sides are among the most profilic in European football and boast arguably the finest forwards lines in club football. The major concern for the Parisians, however, is the fitness of their poster boys, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, after the duo suffered injury on international duty.
Tuchel claimed that Neymar and Mbappe would be fit enough to train on Monday meaning they would be ready to face Liverpool on home turf two days later. Le Parisien reported on Tuesday that both players had indeed trained ahead of this Champions League clash.
Liverpool, however, remains the betting favourite to win Group C alongside PSG with their odds projected at 6/4. Napoli though are favoured most by the traders, with their chances of qualifying from Group C forecast at 4/11.
Head-to-Head record: The two sides have only faced each other three times previously (most recent first): Liverpool 3-2 PSG, Liverpool 2-0 PSG, PSG 3-0 Liverpool.
PSG vs Liverpool predictions: score, best bet, scorer tips
Predicted score: Draw and both teams to score, odds betting at 3/1
Paris Saint Germain are sweeping all before them in Ligue 1 in an unpresdecented manner. Tuchel’s men have already recorded the greatest start to a league season – not just in French history but also in the history of Europe’s top 5 European Leagues.
Their 14 wins in 14 games has propelled them 15 points clear of second placed Lyon in just the fourth month of the football season. Worse still for Liverpool is Paris’ home form where they have lost only two of their last 49 European home games.
Liverpool meanwhile have struggled away from home in the Champions League, losing 1-0 to Napoli before succumbing to a shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Red Star Belgrade. That said, they defeated PSG in the first group game of the season, coming out as 3-2 winners.
The first instalment of our PSG vs Liverpool predictions then backs a draw and both teams to score result with those odds trading at 3/1. Liverpool have only failed to score once in their last five matches whilst PSG have scored in every single game they’ve played this season.
Best bet: Over 3.5 goals, odds trading at 11/10
As well as netting in 20 straight Champions League fixtures and every game in all competitions, PSG have scored an abundance of goals. Averaging 2.75 goals in the Champions League is no mean feat but that hardly compares to the monstrous 3.28 goals they’ve averaged across 14 Ligue 1 games this season.
Better still, an Over 3.5 goals bet would’ve paid out in 12 of the 18 competitive matches Paris have played this campaign.
Liverpool too have only been outscored by Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal and certainly, have the ammunition to hurt the likes of Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe. Their 47 goals across the 17-18 Champions League season was a European record and was achieved across 15 games.
Goal-scorer tips: Sadio Mane our pick to score anytime, odds at 15/8
The final instalment of our PSG vs Liverpool predictions and betting tips sees us project Sadio Mane to score anytime against the French champions.
Having reached and scored in the final of the Champions League last season, the Senegalese forward ended his maiden Champion League campaign with an incredible 10 goals in 13 appearances.
With one goal already this campaign coming against Red Star, we’re backing Mane to add to his tally and score a crucial goal to keep Liverpool’s hopes of progressing to the next round alive.
