Scottish Premiership Odds: Celtic remain odds-on favourites for William Hill title

| BY News Team

Celtic remain odds-on favourites at 4/11 for the William Hill Premiership title, despite Wilfried Nancy’s side slipping to defeat against league leaders Hearts at the weekend.

Hearts now sit three points clear at the top of the table, but the market still has the Glasgow club as the most likely champions.

Monday’s update shows Celtic holding firm at the head of the outright market at 4/11. The Hoops’ loss to Hearts has tightened things up at the top, yet traders still rate Nancy’s side as the standout pick to finish the campaign with the trophy.

Hearts’ win has moved them three points clear in the standings, but they remain third in the betting at 6/1. Their strong start has forced a rethink of the market, though questions remain over whether they can sustain this pace across the full season.

Rangers, who extended their unbeaten league run to 10 matches over the weekend, sit nine points off top spot but are shorter than Hearts at 4/1. They are viewed as the main alternative to Celtic, with their recent form suggesting they could apply increasing pressure as the season progresses.

William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “The William Hill Premiership title race took another dramatic twist at the weekend, with Hearts beating Celtic to go three points clear at the top.

Wilfried Nancy’s side are now three points adrift of Hearts, but we’re holding firm with them as our odds-on favourites to win the title.

“Hearts don’t have history in their favour, and it would be some achievement if they were able to stay on top of the pile come the end of the season, so we’re not overreacting to their early season success just yet and they remain third in the betting at 6/1.

“Rangers are expected to pick up the pace after extending their unbeaten run in the league to 10 over the weekend and they’re second in our title betting at 4/1.”

Many will already be scrutinising Nancy’s start to life at Parkhead and perhaps will hold concern as his side were unable to overcome league-leaders Hearts. Following the departure of the somewhat beloved interim boss Martin O’Neill, Hoops fans might be wondering if their club made the right call in throwing Nancy in the deep end for his first game.

Hearts will be looking to use their latest result to spur them on for the rest of the league campaign, as they hunt down the Premiership title and disrupt the traditional 2-team mould of Celtic and Rangers.

With the top three all firmly in the mix and plenty of football still to be played, the William Hill Premiership title race looks set to remain a key focus for Scottish football fans over the coming weeks.
