Celtic vs Rangers Predictions

| BY News Team

We are only four games into the William Hill Scottish Premiership season, and we already encounter our first Old Firm derby of the campaign. Both Celtic and Rangers have got off to their expected positive starts, with the former coming out the better. Below we look into the derby and draw predictions on this exciting event.

Bet on the William Hill Scottish Premiership

Celtic 13/20

Celtic have got off to another tantalising start to their domestic campaign with three victories from their first three games. Brendan Rodgers’ men have won 4-0, 2-0 and 3-0 in their first three fixtures showing scoring is no issue, and more impressively without conceding a goal. Celtic are 13/5 to continue this trend of winning to nil against Rangers on Sunday.

Nicolas Kühn has been the standout player for Celtic so far, having scored three goals and whilst making three assists. So far, Kühn has more than filled the gap left by Matt O’Riley the 2023/24 Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year. Which when leaving for Brighton, fans were concerned about the loss of the attacking prowess, but so far so good from Nicolas Kühn.

Therefore, Kühn is definitely high up the list for likely scorers in this fixture, he currently has odds of 2/1 to score anytime. With two players ahead of him in the goalscoring market, Kyogo Furuhashi (6/5) and Daizen Maeda (9/5) also with a strong likelihood of getting their names on the scoresheet.

Rangers 10/3

Although Celtic are defensively unbeaten so far this season, Rangers will be their toughest test yet. Rangers come into this off the back of an emphatic 6-0 victory against Ross County and will fancy their chances of beating Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for the first time this season. All of, Danilo, Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence and Cyriel Dessers got themselves goals in their last outing. With Danilo and Cyriel Dessers the most likely to repeat this against Celtic, according to the market, at 5/2.

With Celtic having the possibility of moving five points clear this early in the season, Philippe Clement’s men will do anything in their power to remain close to their Glaswegian rivals. This is a six-pointer and tensions will be high so, as usual, cards can be expected and Rangers will be more likely to commit the fouls as they will be doing anything in their power to stay in the game.

Prediction

This Old Firm match is expected to be closely contested, given both teams’ current form and the heightened stakes discussed above. Celtic’s recent strong defensive record makes them the favourites, but Rangers’ high-scoring performance in their last game suggests they could break through against Kasper Schmeichel. A tight match with a narrow Celtic victory seems likely. Considering the high stakes, anticipate a physical game with the potential for yellow cards, particularly for Rangers as they strive to keep up with Celtic.

Despite Celtic’s solid defence, Rangers’ recent attacking form makes both teams to score a good value bet, with odds of 1/2. In the goalscorer market, our prediction is Nicolas Kühn to score first, with odds of 13/2. Kühn has been in excellent form and stands a strong chance of finding the net in his first Old Firm derby, and with the atmosphere jumping at Celtic Park we can see a fast start by the home side.

Score Prediction:

The final score prediction is Celtic 3-2 Rangers, with both teams finding the net but Celtic maintaining their winning streak, and just finding enough at home – 16/1.
