Serbia vs Brazil permutations – who needs what to qualify?
Brazil and Switzerland sit on four points whilst Serbia tag closely behind on three. Costa Rica have already been eliminated and run risk of being Group E’s whipping boys.
A draw then for Seleção against The White Eagles would be enough to clinch a place in the next round.
If both Brazil and Switzerland win then the group winner could be decided by disciplinary records: Brazil have three yellows and Switzerland four. If they both lose then it will be the second and third places potentially decided by the same process.
The Swiss will qualify with a draw against Costa Rica or if the Serbs lose to the Brazilian.
The White Eagles will progress if they defeat Seleção. A draw would be ample enough should Switzerland lose to Costa Rica by more than one goal.
Serbia vs Brazil odds
The odds of a victory for the Samba Boys is 8/15 while a draw is priced at 16/5.
Serbia’s chances of a win are slimmer as their odds stand at 24/5.
Serbia vs Brazil team news
Brazil will likely name an unchanged line-up from the side that defeated Costa Rica.
Seleção coach Tite may have been tempted to start Douglas Costa after his sub appearance produced an assist for Neymar but the Juventus winger has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Manchester City right-back Danilo remains out and the odds are Corinthians defender Fagner will keep his place there.
Serbia have six players at risk of being suspended for the next game but they are unlikely to be rested since the Serbs desperately need a result.
The White Eagles trail Brazil and Switzerland in Group E and coach Mladen Krstajić faces a ban after saying German referee Felix Brych should be tried for war crimes in The Hague for failing to award his team a second-half penalty against the Swiss.
Serbia vs Brazil predicted line-up
Tite stated in his pre-match press conference that he would he name an unchanged side.
Brazil XI: Allison; Fagner Thiago Silva Miranda Marcelo; Casemiro Coutinho Paulinho; Willian Jesus Neymar.
Serbia vs Brazil match stats
Serbia and Brazil’s first ever World Cup appearance was all the way back in 1930 – against each other. Yugoslavia ran out 2-1 winners.
Yugoslavia included, The White Eagles have met Seleção four times at the World Cup, their records matched evenly with one win each and two draws.
In total, Serbia have faced Brazil 19 times winning only twice. However, Brazil have won only once against European opposition in their last seven games.
Tite’s men lost only one match in 21 in the build-up to the tournament, scoring 47 goals and conceding just five.
Serbia vs Brazil key players to watch
Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic remains the main man up front for Serbia and he has scored 18 goals in 26 games for club and country in 2018.
The odds of Neymar playing a part is extremely high given he has been directly involved in 18 goals in his last 17 appearances for Seleção (10 goals, 8 assists).
Neymar and Mitrovic both to score is enhanced at 7/1.
Philippe Coutinho has scored in each of his last three appearances for Seleção. His odds of scoring at anytime is 29/20.
