Spanish Super Cup Betting Tips for Barcelona v Athletic Club

The 42nd edition of the Supercopa de Espana will get underway this week in Saudi Arabia, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club all looking to take this trophy back home to Spain.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the Spanish Super Cup..

The first semi-final of this Spanish Super Cup will get underway on Wednesday night, with Barcelona taking on Athletic Club.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some odds and Spanish Super Cup betting angles for Wednesday’s fixture:

Barcelona v Athletic Club – Wednesday, 7pm

Punters can bet on Barcelona v Athletic Club with William Hill

  • Winners of this trophy last year, Barcelona will get their defence started on Wednesday and Hansi Flick’s side travel to Saudi Arabia in fine form, having won each of their last eight games in all competitions.
  • Barcelona won their derby against Espanyol on Saturday evening, a 2-0 victory means they remain at the top of La Liga and four points ahead of Real Madrid, whilst these two sides met at this stage almost one year to the day, with Barcelona winning 2-0.
  • One thing you can usually guarantee with this Barca side is goals, they’ve scored at least two goals in twelve of their last thirteen outings, whilst the same outcome has occurred in eight of their last ten Supercopa games.
    ——————————–————————
  • It’s been an underwhelming first half of the season for Athletic Club, they sit eighth in La Liga having played their first nineteen games, they are miles off it in terms of a top-four finish with the Lions now trailing Atleti by fourteen points.
  • Athletic Club have won this competition on three previous occasions but haven’t won it since 2021, if they are to win it this year they’ll have to beat Barcelona for the first time in their last five attempts.
  • Despite the usual guarantee of goals from Barcelona, Athletic Club have only seen two of their last nine games produce at least three goals, whilst Barca have won each of their last four games by the same scoreline of 2-0, i’ll back the same in this semi-final.

Prediction: Barcelona -1 Handicap, Barcelona 2-0 Athletic Club.
