When does the transfer window open?

It could really be a blockbuster summer in terms of transfers, and with a date set for when the upcoming window will open, teams are already eager to get their business sorted early.

Premier League clubs will now be able to sign players from June 9th.

Whereas teams in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 will have to wait until July 1st before being able to add to their respective squads officially.

When does the transfer window close?

The 2021 summer transfer window is set to close on August 31st for all of the clubs in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, when we can expect some last-ditch deadline day transfers. The transfer deadline that day is at 11pm UK time.

With the Premier League set to kick off on August 14th, this may be welcome news for the English teams, as they will be able to test the durability of their squads, before opting to make any late swoops.

What are the key deals to look out for?

Romelu Lukaku

The Belgium international is in arguably the most prolific form of his career, scoring 47 goals in 82 league appearances since moving to Inter Milan in 2019. With seismic changes already beginning at Inter, Chelsea are 5/4 favourite to secure the 28-year-old’s signature this summer. Romelu Lukaku, who had first joined the Blues in 2011 but spent two of his three seasons at the club out on loan, will be high on the list of strikers Chelsea sorely need.

Erling Braut Haaland

The name that may be spoken about most this summer, Erling Braut Haaland was involved in a staggering 53 goals last season, scoring 41 himself and recording 12 assists. The Borussia Dortmund forward is on the agenda of almost all of the top teams in Europe. With Manchester City leading the charge for his signature at 11/8, and Real Madrid (9/4) not far behind, expect an intense conclusion this summer – should a move materialise.

Lionel Messi

One of the greatest players of all time was heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona last summer after a fall-out with the club’s hierarchy, and with his contract set to expire this summer, things are still looking increasingly like that may happen. Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City seem to be in pole position to sign Lionel Messi and both can be found at 2/1, should the opportunity arise this summer.

Jadon Sancho

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been at the heart of endless speculation, with the Premier League now looking the most likely destination. Manchester United (4/5), Liverpool (8/1) and Chelsea (12/1) are all potential Jadon Sancho suitors, and a strong performance at Euro 2020 could see Dortmund spark a bidding war amongst the three.

Jack Grealish

The Aston Villa captain and talisman has been linked with a sensational switch to both of the Manchester clubs, and there is a chance he will make his move this summer. Jack Grealish still has a few years left on his contract at Villa Park, and with a likely price tag of around £80 million, Manchester City are 4/7 favourites to get a deal done, with Manchester United at 8/1.
