When does the transfer window open?

The summer transfer window in the Premier League opened on the 10th of June whereas for most other European Leagues, including La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga, it will not open until the beginning of July.

When does the transfer window close?

The 2022 summer transfer window closes for the Premier League and other European leagues on September 1st at 11pm, a day that is notorious for last-ditch and often bizarre signings.

The Premier League and most leagues worldwide kick-off at the start of August giving them time to test their squads and decide if any last-minute additions are required.

What are the key deals to look out for?

Raheem Sterling

One of the key players under Pep’s reign in Manchester, Raheem Sterling, has been the topic of conversation surrounding a potential move to the next biggest blue-coloured club in the country, Chelsea. The London-born winger has reportedly inquired with contacts about life in London and though the Blue’s initial bid was turned down, there is clearly interest from both parties.

Offering £21.5m for a 27-year-old that has scored 127 goals in the Premier League seems farcical but with only a year left on his contract and appearances diminishing over the last year – combined with City’s addition of Erling Haaland – this could present an ideal opportunity for the England man to get back in the starting line-up.

Sadio Mane

A staple of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, Sadio Mane has been instrumental in all the success the Reds have enjoyed since 2016 when he signed from Southampton. With Liverpool evolving and starting a new era in their attacking football it seems Mane is happy to move away this summer. Bayern Munich has been confirmed as his destination with the Senegalese striker all but confirmed to make the switch to the Bundesliga in a deal worth up to £35 million.

Frenkie De Jong

One of Dutchman Erik ten Hag’s top choices for his revolution at Manchester United, Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong hasn’t hit the levels expected of him in La Liga but appears to be one of the Red Devil’s most likely signings this summer. Seriously impressing as a part of the Ajax team that reached the Champions League semi-final in 2019, the creative central midfielder could be just what is needed at Old Trafford. A deal worth £40 million is reportedly close to being concluded.

Gabriel Jesus

The signing of Erling Haaland would make life difficult for any striker and Gabriel Jesus is not an exception. A key player at City for several years, Jesus may be surplus to requirements as one of the starting 11 now the Norwegian man has effectively taken his place. He will most likely look to move where he can guarantee first-team football and a role as the focal point of the front three. With Arsenal and Tottenham showing interest it will probably come down to who can fork out the most money. We know Champions League football pays well.

Tammy Abraham

Manchester United and Arsenal have expressed interest in the former Chelsea man that scored 27 goals in all competitions under Jose Mourinho in Serie A last season. The striker who was the top scorer at Stamford Bridge in 2019/20 is said to be happy at Roma though and a clause in his contract may complicate a move back to the Premier League. His outstanding form in a new country and victory in the Europa Conference League has kept him on many top club’s radars.
