Now, let’s take a closer look at some football betting angles for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final fixture:

Paris Saint-Germain v Tottenham – Wednesday, 8pm

  • Despite winning the UEFA Champions League back in May, Paris Saint-Germain failed to back it up in the FIFA Club World Cup during the summer, having surprisingly lost out in the final 3-0 to Chelsea.
  • Luis Enrique’s side looked the most dangerous side in the USA, having won five of their seven matches over there with impressive displays against Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. The Parisians conceded in just two of those seven games as well, the winning side in their last nine games have all kept a clean sheet.
  • Recent history in this competition suggests that PSG will leave Italy with Silverware on Wednesday, as eleven of the last twelve UEFA Super Cup finals have all gone the way of the UEFA Champions League winners.

  • Since beating Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final back in May, there’s been a lot of change at Tottenham Hotspur, with Ange Postecoglou being replaced with former Brentford manager Thomas Frank and captain Son Heung-min leaving the club to join LAFC.
  • Of course pre-season is all about getting back to fitness for the players but Thomas Frank’s side have won just two of their six games so far, beating only Reading and Arsenal. Although it won’t be too concerning, a 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in their last outing isn’t exactly the perfect preparation before facing another European giant.
  • This will be a tough ask for Spurs, without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke to name a few, i think we’ll see Paris Saint-Germain make up for their heartbreak in New York and add a Super Cup to their growing trophy collection.

Prediction: PSG -1 Handicap, PSG 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur
