| BY News Team

This week on The Warm-Up, Peter Lovenkrands and Stiliyan Petrov are joined by co-host Kris Boyd and Gordon Duncan.

This week the guys talk Celtic v Bayern Munich, the fall-out from Rangers’ shock defeat to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup, what it was like settling in Glasgow under the microscope as well as Peter’s famous dog.

The full episode is available on the Warm-Up YouTube channel and can be found here.

On the show this week;

Maeda the main man in Munich

Stiliyan Petrov said: I don’t know what he eats, but I tell you, I want some of that! I believe the way that Bayern Munich play, everything goes through their centre-backs, Kimmich and Goretzka, probably Pavolic in the return game.

I think when you have Maeda through the middle, he gives you a worry because when you play against players like that, your midfielder every time they’re on the ball, you have to be very aware the way you pass the ball, you’re not allowed to lose ball because as soon as you lose the ball, everything over the top, Maeda will get it.

As soon as he went through the middle, he gave them that little bit more directness, and to the goal quicker.”

 “You have to keep changing managers until you get the right one”

Kris Boyd said: “I’m not buying into this myth. Everybody says you can’t keep changing managers but you have to until you get the right one. You have to. People forget, Rangers at one point last year were favourites to win the league, and managed to mess it up. There’s been an overhaul recently because they’ve said they have to cut back.

 People say if you can look at the manager and what’s going on and say there are players improving, then carry on, be my guest. But as it stands right now, I don’t see that.”

Scoring goals against Celtic, just like his old man – Peter Lovenkrands

Peter Lovenkrands said; “It went mental again! It comes in waves, especially around Halloween, Christmas, when people start dressing up, I’ve seen people walk through airports like that with the head on. I get sent them all the time on social media. My kids now are at school and every time they go to school people are like ‘I’m going to dress like this!’.

When I saw it at the darts, I was like, no way! I swear, somebody’s got it tattooed!”

Celtic taught me how to be a winner. – Stiliyan Petrov

Stiliyan Petrov said; “Tommy Burns was incredible for me. One day I’ve just started playing under Martin and progressing nicely, and he said ‘Stan, what do you want from life, what do you want to achieve with Celtic, as a human being what do you want to be?’

I said ‘Coming from Bulgaria I want to follow my idols, Stoichkov, he had such a success.’

He said ‘Measuring success, is different. You know, when you leave this club, you’re going to become a winner.’

When I left Celtic, I hated losing. I learned how to fight. I learned how to be a team-mate and even today, when I play 6-a-side, when you’ve played for this club, it doesn’t matter what you take in life, you fight for it.”
