Sammie Szmodics transfer odds

Republic of Ireland forward Sammie Szmodics had his best season yet for Blackburn in their 2023/24 campaign, netting 33 times over the season with 27 of those goals in the Championship.
If it weren’t for him, Blackburn would’ve most likely faced relegation as even with all those goals they still finished 19th, three points clear of the drop at the end of the season.
Naturally, the goal machine has caught the attention of a few clubs in the Premier League, somewhere Szmodics has openly discussed as being the most desirable destination for his career moving forward.
Blackburn did sign him on a new deal until 2026 in November, however, which has left them in a comfortable position when it comes to bargaining with the host of clubs hunting his signature.
Below we look at his top two most likely destinations should Blackburn decide to cash in on him this summer.

Ipswich – 4/9
As previously mentioned, Szmodics has expressed his interest in Premier League football and having performed like he did last season in the Championship, now seems the right time for that jump. In order to make a seamless transition, who better to join than recently-promoted side Ipswich, making their first appearance in the English top flight since the 2001-02 season.
At odds of 4/9, an implied probability of close to 70%, this transfer looks increasingly likely to happen should The Tractor Boys be willing to fork out for the Republic of Ireland forward. If this deal goes through, it will undoubtedly bolster their attack next season and could pay dividends when trying to keep their heads afloat and beat the promotion curse, which all three teams fell victim to last season.
The interest is certainly clear, as Ipswich have already had multiple bids rejected this transfer window and it just depends on whether they can cough up the asking price but the Suffolk outfit still seem in pole position for his signature.
Leeds – 3/1
Despite failing to earn promotion last season, a move to one of the Championship’s top sides looks the second-most likely option for Szmodics as Leeds register their keen interest in the forward. The fact that frontman Patrick Bamford has struggled with injuries of late will mean that Daniel Farke may want to have a solid option in Szmodics as last year’s signing, Joel Piroe, didn’t quite cut the mustard despite the hefty £15million price tag from Swansea scoring just 15 goals in 49 appearances.
Having just missed out on a spot to return to the Premier League, Daniel Farke’s side were agonisingly close to going the distance and will be throwing the kitchen sink at it this season. By doing so, some savvy transfers will need to make an impact and Sammie Szmodics could be the man for the job.
This scenario does look less likely at 3/1 and Leeds might have just have their work cut out for them if they are to bring in last season’s top goalscorer to pair up with star man Crysencio Summerville, which would dramatically improve their chances heading into this year’s domestic campaign.
