Where will Mohamed Salah go next?

As we enter the summer transfer window, many players are rumoured to be on the move as clubs look to strengthen their squads or cash in on some players ahead of the new season. One of the biggest names who’s rumoured to be on the move this summer is Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

The 32-year-old ‘Egyptian King’ has enjoyed a stellar Liverpool career, winning both the Premier League and Champions League, rising his stock to being considered one of the best players in the history of the Premier League. Being one of the first names on the team sheet for Liverpool, Salah has been a mainstay under Jurgen Klopp. With the departure of Klopp, and a new manager in Arne Slot arriving, this has sparked rumours of Salah potentially leaving the club this summer before the expiration of his contract next year.

Any Saudi Club – 10/11

Salah has been heavily linked to a move to the Saudi Pro League, and he came close to leaving the club to Saudi Arabia last year. Liverpool saw a number of large bids come in for the Egyptian forward, most notably an £80 million offer from Al-Ittihad, with a rumoured contract offer to Salah of around £65 million a year, eye-watering stuff. He ended up staying with Liverpool, but the situation is far more unclear now with the new manager arriving and with just a year left on his current contract, Liverpool and Salah may be keen to cash in.

Several Saudi clubs have mooted their interest in Salah, with no official bids made yet. However, it is expected Al-Ittihad are looking to have another crack at picking up the Egyptian where he could link up with ex-teammate Fabinho. It’s unlikely that any club in Europe would be willing to match or better any offer made by a Saudi Pro League club for Salah, so it does look likely that if Liverpool are looking to strike a deal it would be with a Saudi Arabian club.

PSG – 8/1

The most likely of the European clubs to secure Salah’s signature is PSG. Whilst it would be unlikely that PSG are happy to stump up the amount for a 32-year-old Salah in the final year of his contract that a Saudi Pro League club would, this move would still make sense for both parties. PSG have just lost their star man in Kylian Mbappe, who made the switch to Real Madrid and will be looking to make a marquee signing to replace him and his output for the club, Salah is one of the players who could fit that bill. He would bring immediate output for PSG which would go some way in filling the Mbappe-sized void left by his departure, and potentially at a cut price if Liverpool wish to cash in on Salah. For Salah, the move would allow him to keep competing for silverware at the elite level if he doesn’t quite feel ready to start winding down his career at the top level just yet.
