@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the UEFA Nations League..
France have left themselves in a tricky situation following their first leg defeat to Croatia on Thursday, they’ll be looking to use their home advantage to sway the tie back in their favour. Portugal are another side that need to overturn a deficit following their 1-0 defeat to Denmark in Copenhagen.
Elsewhere, Germany face Italy at Signal Iduna Park with a slight advantage following their 2-1 victory at the San Siro, whilst Spain and the Netherlands will both be looking for victory at the Mestalla on Sunday following their entertaining 2-2 draw in the first leg.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Sunday’s UEFA Nations League fixtures:
France v Croatia – Sunday, 7.45pm
- Despite trailing 2-0 from the first leg, France will feel if they can be more clinical in front of goal, they’ll still have a real chance of qualifying here.
- Didier Deschamps’ side created sixteen attempts at goal which resulted in an xG of 1.49, whilst Thursday was just their second defeat in their last eleven meetings with Croatia, which should restore some belief.
- You’d expect Les Bleus to be on the front foot from the start in Paris, Croatia will do well not to concede at least once here, i really think this is far from over.
——————————– - The first leg victory is a great result for Zlatko Dalić’s side but it could have been even better had Andrej Kramaric converted his spot kick after just eight minutes.
- Blazers head to Paris as the underdogs but that’s now two victories in their last two meetings with France, including their 1-0 win at this very stadium back in 2022.
- The worry for Croatia is their recent away form, having failed to win any of their last three UEFA Nations League away games.
Prediction: Winner Of Tie – France, Kylian Mbappe To Score And France Win 2-0, 2-1 or 3-1 (Price Boost).
Portugal v Denmark – Sunday, 7.45pm
- Winners of the first UEFA Nations League competition back in 2019, their dreams of becoming the first nation to lift this trophy twice took a slight dent in Copenhagen on Thursday.
- The 1-0 defeat put an end to Portugal’s run of six games without a loss since the European Championship in the summer, they created just two shots on target which is unlike this Portuguese side.
- However, Roberto Martinez’ side should be confident of a victory here, given they’ve won ten of their last thirteen UNL games on home soil.
——————————– - Denmark have given themselves something to defend in Lisbon following their victory in the first leg, although it could have been much more comfortable.
- The Danes produced twenty-three shots with nine of those hitting the target, including Christian Eriksen’s penalty miss in the first half.
- Denmark will need to improve on the road against the “top-ten ranked” nations if they are to secure a place in the semi-final, having won just one of their last seven away games against such sides.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Portugal To Win, Portugal 3-1 Denmark.
Germany v Italy – Sunday, 7.45pm
- History was against Germany ahead of their trip to the San Siro on Thursday but coming from behind to win 2-1 secured their first win away against Italy since 1986.
- This is a competition that the Germans have struggled in over the years but with Julian Nagelsmann’s side unbeaten in their last seven games since the Euros, that poor record could change.
- Germany are a real force on home soil, they’ve won all three of their UNL home games in this campaign, scoring thirteen in the process and are yet to concede.
——————————– - Italy will still feel they have a chance of qualifying here despite that defeat on Thursday, they’ll take some confidence from the fact they’ve scored at least one in each of their last twelve UNL games.
- However, it’s now back-to-back defeats for Luciano Spalletti’s side who has questioned his defensive unit.
- There’s no doubt the Italian defence will be asked plenty of questions again on Sunday night, they’ll be hoping to avoid what happened here back in 2022, where they lost 5-2 in this competition.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Germany To Win, Germany 3-1 Italy.
Spain v Netherlands – Sunday, 7.45pm
- Spain extended their unbeaten run to seventeen games on Thursday but it could have been a completely different story had Mikel Merino not equalised with just seconds left to play.
- The worry for Spain is despite that valuable stalemate, it also extended their winless run against the Netherlands to eight games across all competitions, with their last victory coming back in 1983.
- The defending UEFA Nations League champions have won all three of their home games this campaign, can they secure their place in the semi-final here?
——————————– - The Netherlands could point to the fact they had to play the last ten minutes of the first leg with ten-men following Jorrel Hato’s red card, otherwise they could have travelled to Valencia with something to defend.
- Instead, it’s all up for grabs and despite their brilliant record against Spain, the Dutch have won just one of their last six games.
- I think this will be the end of the road for Ronald Koeman’s side in this competition, it won’t be easy but Spain should just edge it.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Spain To Win, Spain 2-1 Netherlands.
