Women’s Champions Cup Semi-Final Predictions: Including Arsenal vs AS FAR
The inaugural Women’s Champions Cup determines which women’s team are the best in the world, and we’re now down to the final four.
The champions from each continent are vying for world supremacy and four of women’s football’s big guns have made it to the semi-final stage.
Gotham FC are flying the flag for North America, while South America’s representatives are SC Corinthians Paulista. AS FAR, or Royal Armed Forces Sports Association, from Morocco are Africa’s champions, and last but not least Arsenal Women are leading the charge for Europe.
Both semi-finals are to be played at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, bringing the world’s best from women’s football to London.
Let’s take a closer look at the semi-finals.
Gotham FC v SC Corinthians Paulista
First up is the battle of the Americas, as Gotham FC of the United States take on SC Corinthians Paulista from Brazil. This is the earlier of the two semi-finals on Wednesday, with kick off scheduled for 12:30pm.
Both of these sides made their way straight to the semi-finals as representatives from two of the ‘big three’ continents in women’s football.
Gotham FC earned their place by winning the 2025 NWSL Championship. It wasn’t plain sailing to get there, however, as they only just snuck into the play-offs via an eighth-place finish in the NWSL. They overcame the odds though, as they defeated Kansas City Current in the quarter-finals, scraped past defending champions Orlando Pride in the semis, and ran out 1-0 victors over Washington Spirit to become the first team to finish eighth in the league and go on to win the Championship.
Corinthians, on the other hands, have been the dominant force in South American women’s football for some time now. They breezed through their Copa Libertadores Femenina group stage and quarter-final, before winning both the semi-final and final by penalty shootout. In doing so, they secured their sixth title and booked their place in this match.
Gotham are a high-class outfit with a number of notable names in their squad. Fans of Chelsea Women will be familiar with Ann-Katrin Berger and Jess Carter, while Rose Lavelle is quickly becoming a global superstar. That quality and experience on the biggest stage may just give them the edge here.
AS FAR v Arsenal Women
The second semi-final of the day, set to kick off at 6pm, pits Africa’s champions against Europe’s finest.
AS FAR, or Royal Armed Forces Sports Association, are the only team with tournament form, as they made it past Wuhan Jiangda WFC in the second round to book their spot in the semis.
The Moroccan outfit earned their place in the tournament by winning CAF Women’s Champions League, which put them straight in to round to face the winners of the round one matchup between champions of the AFC Women’s Champions League (Wuhan Jiangda WFC) and the champions of the OFC Women’s Champions League (Auckland United FC). Their 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League triumph was the second in the club’s history, with a penalty shootout victory in the semis and a 2-1 win over ASEC Mimosas in the final earning them the crown, and a place at the Women’s Champions Cup.
Arsenal Women are probably the headline act in this year’s tournament as they put together and unforgettable run to win the 2024/25 Women’s Champions League. They flew through the group stage with 15 points, but the knockouts was where they really came to the fore. They seemed down and out at the earliest stage after a 2-0 away to Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals, but they put on a show at the Emirates to win 3-0 and progress to the semis. There they met eight-time winners Lyon. Despite losing 2-1 at home in the first leg, they dug deep and thrashed the French champions 4-1 in their own back yard to secure a spot in the final, where defending champions Barcelona awaited them. Arsenal put on a brilliant display and won the match 1-0, writing their name into women’s football history and booking their spot in the Women’s Champions Cup semi-finals.
AS FAR are a talented side in their own right, but Arsenal will surely have too much for them here. They’ve got Champions League, Euros and World Cup winners in their side and a great blend of youth and experience. They’ll expect to cruise through to the final
