Ellen White, England – One To Watch

Ellen White became the Lionesses’ all-time top goalscorer in 2021, overtaking the legendary Kelly Smith by netting a hat-trick on her 101st England cap. Across an international career that now spans more than a decade, White has consistently performed at the highest level and delivered huge goals when it has mattered most.

From a goal on her debut to a dramatic last-minute winner over USA in 2017, White has forged a deserved reputation as one of the world’s top strikers. She’s a prime penalty-box poacher, always finding space between defenders, and an unerringly accurate finisher.

At club level, White has racked up the silverware with Arsenal and Manchester City. In 2021, she was the main source of goals for Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics, including bagging a memorable hat-trick against the Matildas of Australia.

If the Lionesses are to pull off an historic Euro 2022 victory on home soil this summer, you can guarantee that Ellen White will play a big role. In her last major tournament with England, White was the joint top scorer with six goals. That was at the 2019 World Cup, and if she can repeat that feat this summer at Euro 2022, the Lionesses may well be lifting the trophy at Wembley Stadium at the end of July.
