Has Japan Defeat Impacted The England 2026 World Cup Squad Odds?

Following England’s final match prior to the World Cup squad selection, William Hill can reveal the likeliest 26 man squad for the tournament.

Jordan Pickford (1/40) remains the standout choice in goal, with Dean Henderson (1/10) and James Trafford (8/13) also expected to be included.

In defence, Marc Guehi (1/33) and Ezri Konsa (1/20) appear among the leading options, alongside Nico O’Reilly (1/10) and Lewis Hall (1/4), while John Stones (3/10), Harry Maguire (1/3) and Reece James (1/3) look well placed.

Dan Burn (2/5) and Valentino Livramento (2/5) are also in contention, though others such as Djed Spence (8/11), Ben White (6/4) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (2/1) are currently much bigger prices to be selected.

In midfield, Declan Rice (1/40), Morgan Rogers (1/20), Elliot Anderson (1/12), Jude Bellingham (1/9) and Cole Palmer (1/9) all look likely to be selected if fit, with Jordan Henderson (1/4) and Eberechi Eze (4/11) also in a strong position.

Kobbie Mainoo (1/2) and Adam Wharton (4/6) remain in the frame but are behind in the betting for selection.

Further forward, Harry Kane (1/40), Bukayo Saka (1/33) and Anthony Gordon (1/20) lead the attacking options, with Marcus Rashford (1/5), Phil Foden (1/5) and Noni Madueke (8/15) also expected to feature.

Ollie Watkins (6/4) remains in contention as a striker option, while Jarrod Bowen (8/13), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (9/4) and Dominic Solanke (5/2) appear less likely to make the final squad.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “After defeat to Japan, England’s World Cup squad market is beginning to take final shape as the tournament draws closer.

“Among the goalkeepers, Jordan Pickford is an overwhelming favourite, with Dean Henderson and James Trafford also strongly fancied to be included.”

To Be Named In The England World Cup 2026 Finals Squad Odds:

Goalkeepers:

  • Jordan Pickford – 1/40
  • Dean Henderson – 1/10
  • James Trafford – 8/13

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “In defence, Marc Guehi and Ezri Konsa lead the way at the head of the market, while Nico O’Reilly and Lewis Hall also strong fancied to feature.

“John Stones, Harry Maguire, and Reece James are all prominent and look to have spots, with Dan Burn and Valentino Livramento also firmly in contention. Outside of that, the odds indicate that Djed Spence, Ben White and Trent Alexander-Arnold could be set to miss out.”

Defenders:

  • Marc Guehi – 1/33
  • Ezri Konsa – 1/20
  • Nico O’Reilly – 1/10
  • Lewis Hall – 1/4
  • John Stones – 3/10
  • Harry Maguire – 1/3
  • Reece James – 1/3
  • Dan Burn – 2/5
  • Valentino Livramento – 2/5

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “The midfield group is similarly competitive, though Declan Rice, Morgan Rogers, Elliot Anderson, Jude Bellingham, and Cole Palmer look to have their spots secured barring injury.

“Jordan Henderson and Eberechi Eze are also well positioned to be on the plane and whilst Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton are in with chances, the betting suggests that their places currently appear under threat.”

Midfielders:

  • Declan Rice – 1/40
  • Morgan Rogers – 1/20
  • Elliot Anderson – 1/12
  • Jude Bellingham – 1/9
  • Cole Palmer – 1/9
  • Jordan Henderson – 1/4
  • Eberechi Eze – 4/11

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Up front, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon top the market and look near certain to go.

“Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden also remain prominent, with Noni Madueke in the mix, while Ollie Watkins sits as the relative outsider of the group but is the second out and out striker in the list. As a result, the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Dominic Solanke and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all look likely to miss out.”

Forwards:

  • Harry Kane – 1/40
  • Bukayo Saka – 1/33
  • Anthony Gordon – 1/20
  • Marcus Rashford – 1/5
  • Phil Foden – 1/5
  • Noni Madueke – 8/15
  • Ollie Watkins – 6/4

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Overall, the market points towards a settled core of players, with only a handful of positions still offering any real uncertainty.”
