Kane favourite over Mbappe, Ronaldo and Messi to bag World Cup hat-trick

Harry Kane heads the betting at 9/4 as the most likely player to score a hat-trick at the 2026 World Cup.

The Three Lions frontman leads sharpshooters Kylian Mbappe (5/2), Cristiano Ronaldo (11/4), Lionel Messi (10/3), and Erling Haaland (4/1) in the betting market to bring home a match ball during the competition in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

With 48 teams going to the tournament, goals are expected to be free-flowing and over 300 goals to be scored is currently priced at 7/4.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: Harry Kane tops our betting at 9/4 to score a hat-trick during this summer’s festival of football, which underlines just how highly we rate England’s captain heading into the tournament. The market is incredibly competitive, with Kylian Mbappe close behind at 5/2, while Cristiano Ronaldo (11/4), Lionel Messi (10/3) and Erling Haaland (4/1) complete a star-studded list of contenders to take home a match ball during the tournament.

“With the competition expanding to 48 teams for the first time, there’s an expectation that we’ll see more goals than ever. That’s reflected in our 7/4 odds on there being over 300 goals scored across the tournament, and if the betting is anything to go by, punters are expecting plenty of high-scoring games alongside individual brilliance from the world’s biggest names.

“In the outright market, we’ve seen Spain emerge as the most popular bet among our customers, with 17% of bets placed on the 2010 winners. France and England are also well backed, taking 15% and 13% of bets on the market respectively. Scotland have only taken 1.8% of outright bets but if the Tartan Army were to pull off the unthinkable, it would be a bad blot on the book for us.”
