World Cup
Scotland given 30% chance of Group C qualification
Scotland’s hopes of reaching the World Cup knockout stages are hanging in the balance following their 3-0 defeat to Brazil, with William Hill giving Steve Clarke’s side just a 30.8% implied chance of qualifying from Group C.
The Tartan Army are priced at 9/4 to progress to the Round of 32, while England are considered more likely to reach the semi-finals of the tournament at odds of 13/8, an implied probability of 38.1%.
William Hill also make Scotland just 1/4 to be eliminated at the group stage, with odds of 10/3 available on their World Cup campaign ending in the Round of 32.
Scotland Stage of Elimination
- Group Stage – 1/4
- Round of 32 – 10/3
To Qualify from Group C
- Scotland – 9/4
To Reach the Semi-Finals
- England – 13/8
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Scotland are at the mercy of other teams if they are to qualify from Group C after a dismal 3-0 defeat to Brazil last night, and we go 1/4 that the Tartan Army exit at the group stage.
“In fact, it’s likelier that England reach the semi-finals of the competition. The Three Lions are 13/8 to progress that far, whilst Scotland are 9/4 to progress to the round of 32.
“If result don’t go their way this evening, that price could get even bigger.”
