Schauffele is the defending champion as the PGA Tour heads to Yokohama Country Club. There were plenty of low scores here last year, with Schauffele finishing 19 under, but golfers have to be clinical when they have scoring opportunities due to the course only featuring two par 5s.
Best Bets
- Jacob Bridgeman to Win (18/1 Each-Way 8 Places)
- Min Woo Lee Top 10 Finish (5/2)
- Keegan Bradley Top 10 Finish (13/5)
There’s very little to question about Jacob Bridgeman’s game. He’s an excellent putter, his approach play is reliable, and he’s accurate off the tee. Sure, he doesn’t have the power that we might be looking for here, but he gets enough distance to be competitive.
Most importantly, Bridgeman is in sensational form and won last time out. We like the value at this price.
Min Woo Lee is second in the field in driving distance over the last three months and he impressed in the Presidents Cup. He tied for fourth at the Tour Championship in his last PGA Tour outing, and has a runner-up finish to his name at the Rocket Classic.
Keegan Bradley is one of the longer drivers in the field. He’s excellent around the greens and his approach play has been consistently strong, contributing to a placing of 15th at the Rocket Classic a few months ago.
Yes, Bradley hasn’t had a top 10 finish in 2026, and he’s not competed in on the PGA Tour for a while, but that break could mean he comes back refreshed. This course looks a good fit.
The Course
A tree-lined course with relatively wide fairways, Yokohama rewards big hitters and provides margin for error off the tee. Last year’s contenders were almost exclusively power players.
The greens are sloped and present challenges aplenty with putter in hand. Putting is not straight forward, even when conditions are favourable, so hitting greens in regulation is paramount.
Yokohama has drawn comparisons to Detroit Golf Club and Pinehurst No. 2. Michael Thorbjornsen won the Rocket Classic in Detroit earlier this year ahead of Schauffele. Pinehurst hosted the 2024 US Open – Schauffele tied for seventh, but Hideki Matsuyama posted the lowest score among this week’s Baycurrent Classic field.
Form Players
Schauffele and Matsuyama had strong showings at Pinehurst and impressed at this year’s Rocket Classic. Rickie Fowler missed the cut at the US Open a couple of years ago, but he tied for eighth in Detroit.
Sungjae Im was tied for 15th at the Rocket Classic and claimed 2.5 points in the Presidents Cup. Nick Taylor and Min Woo Lee were two of the other international players to match that mark in the event.
Bridgeman ranks second in this field in strokes gained over the last three months. He didn’t have the best time at the Presidents Cup, but he was nine under at the Rocket Classic earlier this year and has three top 10 finishes in a row, including a win at Walnut Cove.
