FedEx St. Jude Championship Predictions & Betting Tips (2025)

Golf Ryder Cup

The top 70 players in the FedExCup standings after last weekend’s Wyndham Championship have qualified for the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.

Of all the players who earned a spot in the season’s initial playoff event, only Rory McIlroy will not compete due to a scaling back his schedule.

Five Players To Watch At FedEx St. Jude Championship:

Punters can bet on the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship at William Hill and here are our writer’s leading fancies ahead of the opening round on Thursday:

Viktor Hovland (22/1)

Viktor Hovland, finished T-2 at the FedEx St. Jude in 2024, making the Norwegian strong value for this year’s championship.

Despite a disappointing finish in the Open, positives to come from Hovland’s season thus far are landing the Valspar Championship in March and securing a third-place finish at the U.S. Open in June.

Hovland always seems to come good at the tail end of each season, and he has the perfect short game for TPC Southwind.

Given his performance here last season, it’s difficult to see him finishing out of the frame.

Sepp Straka (28/1)

Austrian Sepp Straka has been making plenty of waves in 2025, winning twice on the PGA TOUR this season, at The American Express and the Truist Championship, both Signature Events.

Straka will also be bidding for a second Ryder Cup appearance later this year at Bethpage, so like many of his European golfing compatriots, he will also be hoping that his golf does the talking at this showpiece event.

Straka’s best finish at this event came in 2022, when he finished second at 15-under, making him a proven performer on this course and a decent each-way proposition in our golf betting.

Harris English (35/1)

Harris English has certainly been a Steady Eddie on tour this year, underlined by the fact that he has finished in the top five three times over his last ten appearances.

Such was Scottie Scheffler’s dominance in the Open, that it is easy to forget that English came through late with a five under par round, to finish just four strokes adrift of the world number one, and bagged the runner-up spot.

English has to be respected around this golf course, having finished second in 2020 at 19-under.

Chris Gotterup (40/1)

If you’re seeking a player currently tearing up the greens, then look no further than the American Chris Gotterup.

His monumental rise up the rankings in recent weeks has been nothing short of jaw dropping, and there is every reason to believe that he will turn in yet another fabulous performance in this FedEx event.

Gotterup, who won the Scottish Open last month before finishing third at the British Open, will also be keen to catch the eye of the Ryder Cup selectors this week, so I fully expect him to be on the premises.

Nico Echavarria (150/1)

Nico Echavarria has never made the FedEx Cup Playoffs before, but after a decent showing  in the Wyndham Championship last week, he’s booked his ticket to Southwind.

After three excellent rounds in North Carolina, nerves finally caught up with Echavarria on the final day of the tournament, dropping five shots in the three holes following the turn, and shooting a 75 to finish 10-under par in a tie for 19th.

Now that the pressure is well and truly off, a relaxed Echavarria could easily shoot some low numbers, and he’s worth a small interest in our sports betting.
