Genesis Invitational 2026: Five To Follow In Los Angeles

Sony Open Golf

The Genesis Invitational is one of the PGA Tour’s premier golf tournaments, played each February at the legendary Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. In 2026, The Genesis Invitational returns to Riviera and celebrates its 100th edition.

With the competition reaching such a historic milestone, which player will have his named etched on the centenary trophy come the end of play on Sunday?

Here are my five players to follow against the field:

Tommy Fleetwood (18/1)

Southport man, Tommy Fleetwood finished T-4 last week at Pebble Beach, slowly coming up on the blindside on the weekend, and overall he a fairly solid performer at the Riviera Country Club.

Scottie Scheffler will once again be the target man this week, but he’s been coming up just shy in his tournaments thus far in 2026, and I feel Fleetwood is currently in a much stronger head space than the American at present.

Matt Fitzpatrick (33/1)

Fitzpatrick has caught my attention a couple of times already this season, finishing ninth at the Phoenix Open and T-14th at Pebble Beach, and on both occasions he has only been a handful of shots away from the outright leaders.

The Englishman ranks seventh on tour this year in the tee-to-green stats, and guys with that early good ranking have generally been successful at this iconic golf course over the years.

Harris English (35/1)

Harris English has finished T-12 and seventh in the last two Genesis Invitationals at Riviera and could be considered an improving form man when it comes to this tournament.

Ranked second in this field in the chipping and putting stakes, and given his improved driving, English must be on any shortlist to make the weekend you would like to think.

Sepp Straka (40/1)

Straka finished runner-up at Pebble Beach last weekend and is worth weighing in with again at Riviera. The Austrian golfer shot all four rounds in the 60’s on his way to a strong T-2 finish on an extremely windswept Sunday.

Winner of the Truist last year, Straka looks really relaxed this season after a spot of turmoil in the previous one, and is certainly a player who can regularly hit the fairways, lead the field in greens in regulation, save plenty of pars, and putt nicely on the tricky greens.

Ryo Hisatsune (80/1)

It was disappointing to see the young Japanese player just slip away in the final round last week, after playing an impeccable first three rounds.

Having finished in the top-10 three times over his last ten appearances, Hisatsune looks a decent outside bet given that he’s top 10 from tee to green right now and has done brilliantly around the last three demanding set-ups.
