Open de Espana Prediction & Betting Tips (2025)

The Open de España takes place from 9 to 12 October 2025 at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
The tournament provides the first opportunity for players to qualify for next year’s Open Championship, so the competition will be fierce – I’ve had a look through at five standout players in the betting ahead of this week’s tournament.
Five Players To Follow At The 2025 Open de Espana:
JON RAHM (3/1)
In a field crammed full of European Ryder Cup heroes and LIV Golfers, it could well pay to side with Jon Rahm on home turf this week.
Understandably Rahm’s odds aren’t massive, but he looks like the most solid betting option this week, given the fact that he has won two of his three Open de Espana titles here in 2019 and 2022, and simply loves this golf course. Horses for courses, certainly comes into it here!
DAVID PUIG (16/1)
The 23-year-old David Puig, has enjoyed a consistent season on the LIV circuit, helping his team win three events, and recorded three top-five individual results in the process.
In 2024, the Spaniard landed a share of third place here, alongside Tommy Fleetwood and four other players, and is sure to put up a good fight, as many Spanish homesters have done down the years.
MARCO PENGE (20/1)
Scottish Open runner-up Marco Penge has had a very productive season, winning the Hainan Classic in China and the Danish Championship in Copenhagen.
When Penge is on, he’s really on, and when his tee to green play is in full flow, he really is a player to be reckoned with.
Club de Campo Villa should suit his game well, and he’s a decent each-way price in the Open de Espana tournament betting.
KRISTOFFER REITAN (25/1)
I’m really hoping I’m “Reitan on time”, posting the Norwegian up as a main fancy this week, with all the signs being right there for another great tournament.
For the second time this season, Reitan has gone back-to-back with top five finishes, and comes into this next DW Tour event, very much a golfer in form.
He’s also been successful on Spanish turf before, winning the Challenge Tour Grand Final in Mallorca in 2024, and hasn’t really looked back since.
Reitan’s strong hitting long game should see him well here, and he can be in the frame once more.
JOSE LUIS BALLESTER (80/1)
Spaniards collectively have a brilliant record in this event, so it comes as no surprise that I have also chucked in another live home player at big odds.
With his silky action, Ballester could easily plot a route around this golf course that would put him bang there in contention on the weekend.
Winner of the 2020 Spanish Amateur, 2023 European Amateur and 2024 U.S. Amateur, the Spanish youngster has slowly been finding his feet on the LIV outfit, and will be keen to show home fans that he can play his part in keeping Spanish golfers firmly in the golfing limelight.
