When Is The 2025 Ryder Cup: Everything You Need To Know

Golf Ryder Cup 2025

The 45th Ryder Cup, golf’s famous biennial sports betting event for men, will take place at Bethpage Black, New York, September 26-28, 2025.

Ryder Cup Format

The Ryder Cup is a match-play team competition played over a three-day period between the USA and Europe.

The first two days feature the players competing as pairs in two different golfing formats – foursomes and four-balls. The final day features  all 12 players from each side going head-to-head in singles matches.

Ryder Cup 2025 Outright Winner

Punters can bet on the 2025 Ryder Cup at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • USA 8/11
  • Tie 12/1
  • Europe 11/8

What are the Ryder Cup foursomes and fourball? How does the scoring work?

Foursomes works as an alternate shot competition. Both camps send out four teams of two players, with neither side knowing the other’s teams or where they will be slotted, until the official “reveal”.

In foursomes, each camp designates who will tee off on odd-numbered holes and who will tee off on even holes. They then alternate turns until the hole is completed.

In fourball, a better ball competition is adopted. If one player makes a lower score than the two others on the opposing team, his side wins that hole. For example: if an American player makes a birdie at the first and the two Europeans make par, USA wins the hole and they go 1 up.

This process continues until a team has won more holes than there are remaining to play. Meaning for example,  if a side wins the 15th hole to go 4 up, then they go down as winning that match, 4 and 3, because there are only three holes left, making it impossible for the other side to win or tie.

Ryder Cup schedule of play

  • Friday AM: Foursomes (4 matches)
  • Friday PM: Fourball (4 matches)
  • Saturday AM: Foursomes (4 matches)
  • Saturday PM: Fourball (4 matches)
  • Sunday: Singles (12 matches)

Ryder Cup Scoring in 2025

A win in each match is worth 1 point and a tie is worth a ½ point. With 28 points available, whichever team reaches 14 ½ (or more) first will claim the trophy.

If the competition ends in a 14-14 tie, the current defending champions – Europe, will retain the cup, courtesy of forcing that draw.
