Rose Remains Most-Feared Result for William Hill

Masters 2026 golf betting: Fitzpatrick (18/1), MacIntyre (22/1) and McIlroy (12/1) follow as major British liabilities; Aaron Rai shortens after par-3 contest winץ

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We’re up and running at Augusta National, and it’s fair to say we’re already on edge for who will don the Green Jacket come Sunday evening.

“Justin Rose remains the worst possible result for our books as he bids to go one better after coming up just short in one of the best playoffs we’ve ever seen last year against Rory McIlroy.

“Having drifted markedly out to 12/1 from 7/1 a month ago, defending champion McIlroy isn’t as big of a liability as he was last year – when we forked out a seven-figure sum to customers after he completed the Career Grand Slam – but he’d still make a solid dent in the coffers.

“The theme of well-backed Brits continues with Matt Fitzpatrick (18/1) and Robert MacIntyre (22/1), who have been widely tipped to conquer Augusta National this year. The pair are our second and third-largest liabilities after Rose, and have both steadily shortened in the betting over recent weeks, especially after The Players Championship and the Valero Texas Open.

“Aaron Rai would be the first player ever to break the curse of the par-3 contest, where no player who has won on Wednesday has gone on to win the tournament. His inspiring wedge play has seen his odds shorten slightly into 175/1 from 200/1, but he’s still considered as a big outsider this week.”
