The Masters 2026: Biggest Liabilities At Augusta National

With 50 days to go until the Masters, William Hill have revealed the early names giving their Augusta book the most headaches, led by Justin Rose after his Torrey Pines resurgence.

Rose, still chasing a first Green Jacket despite a long history of contending at Augusta, is now 20/1 and sits as the bookmaker’s worst result, following a wave of support after his Farmers Insurance victory and steady outright interest throughout 2026.

Tiger Woods, who held a press conference earlier this week ahead of the Genesis Invitational, refused to rule out participation in the year’s first Major. The five-time champion of Augusta is 2/1 to tee it up in April, and 150/1 to pull off what would be another historic win.

The Masters 2026 Outright Winner Odds:

  • Scottie Scheffler – 5/2
  • Rory McIlroy – 7/1
  • Jon Rahm – 14/1
  • Bryson DeChambeau – 14/1
  • Ludvig Aberg – 16/1
  • Bar – 16/1

Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, provides details on which players would hit the bookmaker’s coffers the hardest:

“We’re 50 days from the first tee shot at Augusta National and Justin Rose is very clearly the one that would hurt us most if he slipped on the Green Jacket for the first time, after coming so close in last year’s playoff against Rory McIlroy.

“Cameron Young and Harris English are next in line on the liability sheet. English was a name regularly mentioned by tipsters before the turn of the year at 150/1 and is now 80/1. Meanwhile, Young enjoyed a strong August and September in 2025 and was backed in from 125/1 to 40/1.

“Marco Penge was supported at 100/1 after his Open de España win and, although he’s missed two cuts and finished T64 in his first three American starts, he’s still 80/1 and would be a notable negative result for us.

“Sam Burns is another we’ll be watching closely after experts highlighted him at 125/1 in December – he’s now 70/1. Those four, along with Rose, are the names that would currently do the most damage if they were to peak at Augusta, but with 50 days to go there’s still plenty of time for the shape of the book to evolve.

“In terms of who punters are putting their money behind, there are no surprises at the top of the staking table. Scottie Scheffler is a clear 5/2 (boosted to 10/3) favourite and already accounts for almost a third of all outright stakes, with Rose taking a share of 10%.

“McIlroy is 7/1 to go back-to-back and has accounted for around 5% of stakes, and it’s a similar story for Tommy Fleetwood (18/1) and Ludvig Aberg (16/1). We’d fully expect at least those four big guns to remain in the top four staking positions by the time the first tee shot is struck on the opening Thursday.

“One interesting side‑story is Angel Cabrera; his recent form on the Champions Tour has reminded people of his 2009 win and we’ve seen some nostalgic interest at three‑figure prices, trimming him from 1000/1 into 750/1.

Tiger Woods Betting Specials:

  • To compete at the Masters 2026 – 2/1

“Talking of nostalgia, the legendary Tiger Woods is fancied at 2/1 to return to Augusta this year following his injuries and news of his recovery at the Genesis Invitational press conference earlier this week.

“To mark the 50‑day countdown we’ve also put on a special price boost for Scheffler to win the 2026 Masters; he’s now 10/3 from 5/2. With Scheffler dominating the staking, Rose heading the liabilities and a handful of live outsiders lurking, it already feels like this year’s Masters book has plenty of potential to give us some nervy moments come April.”
