Aintree Horse Racing Tips – Boxing Day 2025
Aintree’s William Hill Boxing Day Fixture is the perfect way to continue the festive celebrations. Whether you’re in attendance with family and friends, or simply watching on the TV at home, there are plenty of betting markets to get involved in.
Here, I look through each race on the card at Merseyside on Boxing Day so check out my Aintree selections below…
12.00pm – 2m4f William Hill Daily Bet Boosts Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
Pulled up at this very fixture two years ago, DISCO ANNIE is now a very different mare to the one we saw in the bumper here in 2023.
The Rebecca Menzies-trained seven-year-old took her time to come to hand, but in November of last year the penny truly dropped and she clocked up a nice pair of victories over 2m1f at Carlisle.
After showing a glimpse of her old self at Kelso at the start of the month, she should be ready to do herself justice over this 2m4f trip today, and Brian Hughes is a top jockey booking.
12.30pm – 2m4f William Hill Racing Bet Builder Handicap Chase
Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith are certainly making punters sit up and take notice of their success rate at present, and they hold another great chance here with the experienced chaser PRAIRIE WOLF.
After wind surgery in September, the seven-time career winner has put in two third-placed performances and should be suited by this flat track.
1.05pm – 2m1f William Hill Formby Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)
Currently favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle next March, MYDADDYPADDY puts his reputation back on the line in the Grade 1 Formby Novices’ Hurdle.
Dan Skelton’s four-year-old has a bumper victory and two hurdle wins to his name from three starts, most recently romping home at Haydock Park by an easy seven lengths at the start of the month.
If Harry Skelton can get his fractions right around Aintree, he will be a tough nut to crack in this Grade 1.
1.40pm – 2m4f William Hill Handicap Hurdle
George Barlow certainly loves his bears and his six-year-old – BEAR MARKET can win on Merseyside once again.
The Yeats-gelding boasts a perfect 3/3 victories at Aintree, the latest coming on Becher Chase Day when he got the one length verdict over Stream Of Stars in another 2m4f hurdle held on Soft going.
2.15pm – 3m1f William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap Chase
Wetherby and Market Rasen scorer KELCE has been a revelation to his owner Paul McKeon since coming over from Ireland to join the Neil Mulholland stable.
This big, scopey seven-year-old should be right at home on the flat Aintree track and he can be excused his last run on heavy ground at Cheltenham. He’s nicely weighted too.
2.50pm – 2m William Hill Extra Places Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase
Donald McCain’s THROATLASH jumped with aplomb at Wetherby last time and can continue his upward trajectory with a victory on Friday afternoon.
The former PTP winner appears to be a shrewd buy by owner Jimmy Fyffe and I can see the six-year-old progressing through the handicapping ranks.
3.25pm – 2m1f William Hill Open National Hunt Flat Race
The McCain family are synonymous with Aintree, and Donald’s best chance of a Boxing Day winner is probably with his PTP recruit DOUBLE INDEMNITY (NAP).
A winner at Damma House at the start of November, the five-year-old gelding will certainly know his job, despite this being his fun run under Rules.
