Ascot Champions Day Tips & Predictions (2025)

Royal Ascot NAP of the Day on Wednesday

Ascot are all set for another exciting British Champions Day, featuring five Group 1 races for the first time.

A record £4.35m million in prize money will be on offer this year, making it once again Britain’s richest raceday. That is boosted by the exciting introduction of a new two-year-old race, taking it up to seven races on the day.

The British Champions Day Two-Year-Old Conditions Stakes will now be the second event on the card and be worth £250,000, run over six furlongs without penalties.

12.55pm – 2m British Champions Long Distance Cup (Group 1)

Godolphin-owned TRAWLERMAN (NAP) has established himself as the best stayer around this year, winning the Gold Cup here in June and the Lonsdale Cup at York in August, and he will be extremely difficult to beat this weekend.

Those looking for a possible forecast should consider Al Qareem, who won the Cumberland Lodge at Ascot earlier this month, and is as gutsy as they come.

1.30pm – 6f British Champions Day Two-Year-Old Conditions Stakes

Andrew Balding’s juveniles have been superb all season long, and his SIR ALBERT looks to hold a solid chance in the inaugural running of this 2yo horse racing betting event.

The son of No Nay Never landed a hat-trick earlier this year and outran his odds of 18-1 in a Listed affair at Doncaster last time. That form has been franked since by the runner-up, Hankelow.

2.05pm – 6f British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 1)

Those of you who follow your French racing, you will have seen TEN BOB TONY (E/W) run a cracker in the Prix de la Foret a fortnight ago, and he can follow that up with a solid effort here.

Ed Walker’s charge took the John Of Gaunt earlier in the year, so is no back number.

2.45pm – 1m4f British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (Group 1)

Following her late withdrawal from the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, ESTRANGE will be bidding to make up for lost time at Ascot.

Her three-and-a-half-length defeat to Minnie Hauk at York was done no harm by the Arc result in Paris, and she looks a solid bet today.

3.25pm – 1m Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Group 1)

THE LION IN WINTER showed us he wasn’t quite ready to pick up his pipe and slippers for the season, when running a blinder in the Prix du Moulin last time.

If he can repeat that effort, he’s a very decent looking each-way bet at 12/1.

4.05pm – 1m2f Champion Stakes (Group 1)

CALANDAGAN was last seen taking the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on good going, but he was second in the Champion Stakes on the soft last year, but there should be no such issues in that respect this year.

4.40pm – 1m (Str) Balmoral Handicap

Just creeping in at the bottom of the handicap is David O’Meara’s BOPEDRO, who can capitalise on his low weight today.

Last seen running well behind Ice Max in York’s Autumn Handicap, Mark Winn can hopefully utilise Bopedro’s draw on Saturday.
