Kameko Futurity Stakes Day

The Kameko Futurity Stakes Day, this year on the 28th of October at Doncaster, marks the end of the Group 1 flat racing which is an important day for all racing fans and bettors.  The main event is the historical 1-mile race, started in 1961, which will see over ten horses battling it out to be crowned this year’s Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes Champion.  Last year Aidan O’Brien’s Auguste Rodin, came out on top under jockey Ryan Moore to give his trainer a record 11th success in the race.

Betting Tips for The Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes

Tip #1 – Study Horses + Jockeys

  • Have a look at the race card and see which horses are running and who the jockeys will be. It is worth looking at the combinations of trainers and jockeys and their past performances as it can be a good indication of chances of success.

Tip #2 – Analysing Form

  • Form (past performances) tends to be a good way to see whether a horse has been performing well (winning or placing) in recent races and could give a good indication of their chances in upcoming races. However, it is similarly valuable to recognise if a horse has a recent history of continual poor finishes towards the back of the field, as this could signal an increased risk of a similar outcome next time out.

Tip #3 – Consider Track Conditions

  • Approaching the autumn and winter months, considering the track conditions (going) is important before placing your bets. Horses within the same race tend to prefer different track conditions so it is essential to look at the going on the day and who that favours within the field.

Tip #4 – Pay Attention to Trainer and Owner Records

  • Similar to studying the form of the horses, the form of the trainers can also be important, giving potential insight into the overall health of their yard and could therefore be an indicator of success and a safe option when looking for a good bet.

Tip #5 – Manage your Bankroll Wisely

  • When betting, it is important to do so safely. Before placing any bets, it is worth determining how much money you can afford to risk along with your bet size and how this will adjust following your results.

Predictions for the Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes

Top Contenders

Since 2002, 14 of the Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes winners have been the favourite and going into this year’s race, Diego Velazquez at around 6/4 looks to be hot property, with Aidan O’Brien looking for a third consecutive win to make it 12 wins overall in this race since 1997.  The other notable horse in this year’s field at around 7/4 is Ancient Wisdom trained by Charlie Appleby, who will be looking to give Diego Velazquez a run for its money and is shaping up to be a fantastic battle between the two.

Dark horses to watch out for

There are few dark horses within the field set to line up at Doncaster, such as God’s Window (8/1), trained by John and Thady Gosden, who won his career debut at Doncaster just over a month ago, beating Ben Brookhouse’s Redhot Whisper (20/1) who will also appear for yet another clash in the big race on Saturday. Dancing Gemini (5/1) appears following an impressive win last time out at the Doncaster St Leger meeting which took place in September, looking to perform yet again for trainer Roger Teal.
