Barry Geraghty’s William Hill blog: Saint can float home on a winning Cloud

William Hill ambassador Barry Geraghty looks over Saturday’s cards from Uttoxeter, Kempton and Thurles.

Uttoxeter, Saturday

I like SAINT DAVY (2:25pm) here, and I’ve been a fan of his for a while – he looks progressive and is four from five over hurdles. He won really well in Ludlow on his previous start, but he stepped up again at Sandown last time. Testing ground should hold no fears for him and he’d be my pick in a competitive handicap.

In the Midlands National (3:00pm), I like AUTONOMOUS CLOUD. He pulled-up when he bled in the Welsh National but before that he had some good form, and he comes into this race fresh, which is a positive. He’s got plenty of good course form on heavy ground and I think if he can progress on his previous form then he should take the beating.

Gavin Cromwell’s Evies Vladimir will enjoy stepping up in trip and looks to have a good chance but there could be each way value to be had with FORTUNEFAVORSDBOLD (3:35pm). Christian Williams’ runner has recorded two good wins on very soft ground in her last two starts and might be worth siding with.

Kempton, Saturday

TITAN DISCOVERY (2:10pm) finished a good second to Jingko Blue two starts back at Sandown and then won impressively on soft ground at the same track last time. I think he’s progressive and looks the one to beat here.

FLEGMATIK (2:45pm) didn’t look like he got home over three miles on soft ground at Kempton last time, so I think this step back down in trip is going to suit him. He beat Chianti Classico two starts back and that form now looks very strong with that horse going on to land the Ultima at Cheltenham this week.

Thurles, Saturday

MISTER POLICEMAN (2:30pm) put in a good performance last time to beat Arctic Bresil in Punchestown last month. Arctic Bresil did that form no damage when running a good race in the Plate on Thursday at Cheltenham. While Mister Policeman was a little disappointing behind Quilixios on his previous start, he is a horse that is highly thought of, so I’m willing to forget that performance. Lucid Dreams has had a busy campaign and did run well behind Ash Tree Meadow on his last start but his performances before that weren’t of the same level so I do question that form a little bit.
