AP McCoy and Barry Geraghty go to the movies

| BY News Team

Ahead of this year’s Cheltenham Festival, we have launched a very special content series titled ‘AP McCoy and Barry Geraghty go to the movies.’

The unique series sees legendary Jump jockeys McCoy and Geraghty join fellow William Hill ambassador to review some of their greatest moments in the saddle at the Cheltenham Festival.

We’ll be celebrating all that we love about the sport of horse racing so make sure you follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to catch the best of the footage.

Episode One: 2004 Arkle

In the first episode, McCoy and Geraghty look back on Well Chief’s victory in the 2004 Arkle. McCoy rode the David Pipe-trained horse to victory on the day, while Geraghty was narrowly denied aboard Kicking King – the horse he’d go on to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup on a year later.

Episode Two: 2005 Champion Chase

In the second episode, McCoy and Geraghty revisit Moscow Flyer’s 2005 Champion Chase win. Geraghty partnered Moscow Flyer in 38 of his 44 career starts and rode the Jessie Harrington-trained horse to a second Champion Chase win in impressive style, two years on from his first win in the race in 2003.

Episode Three: 2009 William Hill Trophy

The next part of our series sees McCoy and Geraghty look back on Wichita Lineman’s remarkable victory in the 2009 William Hill Trophy.

It featured a ride that, for many, was McCoy’s bet ever…

Episode Four: 2009 Champion Hurdle

Episode four sees McCoy and Geraghty rewatch the 2009 Champion Hurdle, where Geraghty sprung a huge surprise on 22/1 Punjabi, getting the better of McCoy on hot-favourite and fellow Nicky Henderson-trained runner Binocular.

Bioncular would go on to win the Champion Hurdle the following year, while Punjabi would only win once more in his career.

Episode Five: 2010 Champion Hurdle

In this episode, Sir AP reflected on Binocular’s success at the 2010 Champion Hurdle for Nicky Henderson and JP McManus.

AP reflected on Henderson’s expertise in training for both Cheltenham and two-mile chases and hurdles.

Episode 6: 2012 Gold Cup

In this episode, AP and Barry discuss the 2012 Gold Cup and Synchronised’s victory and his outstanding will to win.

Episode 8: 2013 Champion Chase

Barry looks back on Sprinter Sacre’s unforgettable and incredible performance in the 2013 Champion Chase.

Episode 9: 2013 Gold Cup

Next up our trio recap on the 2013 Gold Cup – a race Geraghty and McCoy were integral to the outcome of.

Episode 10: 2014 Champion Hurdle

The 2014 Champion Hurdle featured a ding-dong battle between two JP McManus-owned horses in the shape of Jezki and My Tent Or Yours.

Unfortunately for AP and fortunately for Barry, McCoy picked the wrong one!
