Curragh Tips Sunday: More Mullins Magic In Irish Cesarewitch

The Curragh’s Autumn Racing Weekend offers something for everyone. With incredible racing including the Goffs Million and the Irish Cesarewitch. 

Our horse racing expert Steven Mullington looks through all the Irish action on Sunday afternoon.

1.25 – 7f EBF Maiden (2yo)

HMAS PERTH represents the Ballydoyle yard and has already achieved a Racing Post Rating of 94, making him a major threat if he can take another leap forward.

The Justify-colt is trained by Aidan O’Brien and will command plenty of interest in our horse racing betting.

2.00 – 1m1f EBF Maiden (2yo)

Joseph O’Brien’s charge CLUSTER caught the eye when finishing third on his second start 29 days ago.

The Frankel-colt is sure to have learned plenty from his last visit here and the Juddmonte colours can figure in the closing stages of this 1m1f test.

2.35 – 6f Renaissance Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+)

BIG GOSSEY is the ultimate Curragh veteran trained by Charles O’Brien. He’s a true course and distance specialist with a massive engine on his day.

It would come as no surprise if he landed a race such as this, and if he does, the roof would come off at the Curragh – again!!!

3.10 – 6f Maiden (3yo+)

VALENTINO ECLIPSE (NAP) caught the eye earlier this season with a solid second at Leopardstown over 7f, followed by a close fourth over 1m at this venue.

The three-year-old is the percentage call for punting purposes under the experienced Seamie Heffernan.

3.45 – 7f Darley Fillies Stakes (Group 3 – 2yo)

ALPINE WEDDING (NB) is a highly progressive filly who comes here from a breakthrough victory 18 days ago.

Her peak fitness will be a massive plus here, and at a nice price in our sports betting, she’s an each-way play for sure.

4.20 – 2m1f Irish Cesarewitch Handicap (3yo+ 0-110)

The Willie Mullins-trained ABSURDE is a standing dish in these kind of races and the former Ebor winner is one of the most solid dual code performers currently in training.

Daniel King is an interesting jockey booking for the eight-year-old and I can see the old boy responding well for him in the feature. At odds of around 12/1, an each-way bet is the way to go.

4.55 – 7f Nursery Handicap (2yo)

OUR BOY BAILEY carries top weight but drops into handicap company following consistent efforts in warm maidens.

Keithen Kennedy takes the ride for the in-form Jessica Harrington stable.

5.30 – 1m2f Handicap (3yo+)

Adrian McGuinness’s eight-year-old veteran NO MORE PORTER is a seasoned campaigner who loves this track and is well-treated by the handicapper on this occasion.

I’m expecting a bold show from this popular Curragh runner in the lucky last.
