Gavin Cromwell’s William Hill blog: Doncaster and Irish Champions Festival Preview

William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell previews his runners from Doncaster’s St Leger Festival and the Irish Champions Festival.

Thursday, Doncaster

Our first of two runners at Doncaster this week is Railwayview Lady in the Pertemps Handicap (17:20). It’s her first run for us and we’re very happy with her at home – she’s working well.

She’ll appreciate every bit of ease in the ground and she handles softer conditions. I’d be disappointed if she doesn’t run well. She should be bang there.

Saturday, Leopardstown

Our only runner at this weekend’s Irish Champions Festival is In My Teens, who goes in the Group 3 Kilternan Stakes. She ran well for a long way in the Glorious Stakes at Goodwood, but she weakened late on and we were a little disappointed with the result in the end.

Oisin Murphy rode her that day and he felt the race might not have been run to suit her. She needs a proper pace to aim at and they went very steady that day. When she won a big handicap in the Curragh they went a good gallop and it suited her better.

She’s been in good form at home since then and conditions here should suit here. The more the ground dries out the better it is for her because she loves fast ground. There is a little bit of rain forecast but hopefully it’s not too much to make it any softer than good ground.

Sunday, Doncaster

Invincible Will goes in the City Of Doncaster Handicap (14:30). Although he hasn’t run for a little while, we’re happy with him at home. It’s good to get him in a three-year-olds only handicap and conditions should suit him fine there.

He ran well to finish second at Leopardstown the last day having been almost detached. He came home very strong and was probably unlucky not to win. He’s in good form and hopefully he can run well again here.
