Gavin Cromwell’s William Hill blog: Fairyhouse & Naas preview

William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell previews this weekend’s racing from Fairyhouse and Naas’ William Hill Spring Festivals Trials Day.

Fairyhouse, Saturday

Simply Natural is our first runner of the weekend in the maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse (13:00). Her form has been a bit in and out this season, and her best run came in the bumper at Naas. If she could reproduce that sort of form, she’d definitely be in the mix. She jumps well and is a point-to-point winner. I’m hopeful of a good run here.

Another point-to-point winner is Embrace The Day, who is making his handicap debut over 2m4f (14:38). He’s a huge horse and that’s meant he’s taken a bit of time to come to hand. He’s still got a way to go and he’ll have to improve plenty to be winning here.

Naas, Sunday

We also have a couple of runners on the William Hill Spring Festivals Trials Day card at Naas, starting off with Path d’Oroux in the two-mile Grade 3 William Hill Racing Bet Builder Chase.

It has been a long time since he last won and he’s been disappointing this season. We’re hoping to see him get his spark back. He is a few pounds below his last winning mark now, so if he can get back to his best then he could have a chance.

We run Mywayofthinkin in the William Hill-sponsored Listed novice handicap chase (17:00). He’s been disappointing on the whole, but he has given us glimmers of hope here and there. He’s a fine big horse and hopefully these conditions should suit. It looks a competitive race, but hopefully he can run well.
