Gavin Cromwell’s William Hill blog: Flooring Porter goes for the Stayers’

We’ve been going back and forth between the National Hunt Chase and Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham for Flooring Porter, but we’ve decided to go for the Stayers’ on the Thursday.

He’s in mighty form at home and we know how well he goes at Cheltenham and in this race so we’re looking forward to it. He schools over both fences and hurdles at home, and we just feel the Stayers’ Hurdle suits him better and is the race he has the best chance in.

We had a really tough preparation for Cheltenham with him last year as he missed a month after Christmas, but he still ran really well to finish fourth behind Sire Du Berlais. We’ve had a much better preparation with him this year and we’re hopeful he can put up a bold show. It’s a very competitive race, but if he was at his best, he’d be entitled to be in the mix with the best of them.
