William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell previews his runners from the Galway Festival and Glorious Goodwood this weekend.
Goodwood, Saturday
Our first runner this weekend actually comes at Goodwood, with In My Teens in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes (14:25). She was a very good winner at the Curragh the last day and she got a huge hike from the handicapper for that.
We’re taking a big jump in grade now and this will tell us where we are with here. It’s a good race but I think she’s up to running well. It’ll be interesting to see how she gets on. We’re happy with her at home and hopeful of a nice run.
She also has an entry in the Irish St. Leger, which is three weeks away. A lot will depend on how she runs on Saturday.
Galway, Saturday
All three of our Galway runners go in the 2m1f handicap hurdle (14:37). Path d’Oroux will carry top weight here and he has been dropping down the weight about over the last couple of seasons. We gave him a run on the Flat in Killarney a couple of weeks ago and I thought he ran a lovely race to finish third.
He seems to be coming back to some kind of form and we’re back down in grade here. It’s a lovely pot on offer here so hopefully he can run well and finish in the money.
Come On The Lads won this race last year and it was a great pot to win with a horse like him. He’s working away well at home and even though he’s probably exposed to the handicapper, if things fall his way he could certainly bring home some prize money.
Arcland comes here off a career-high mark but he’s in great form. He came out of Killarney well after his win there. We’re happy to give him a chance in a pot like this; hopefully he can continue his good form.
Galway, Sunday
On Sunday we run Reiki Revolution in the three-mile handicap hurdle (14:20). He’s had a couple of runs over fences and been a bit disappointing to be honest. His jumping has been a bit wayward so we’re going back over hurdles. He’s working away fine at home and we’ll see how he gets on here. He stays well so the step up in trip won’t be a problem.
Next up we have Journey So Far in the 2m6½f handicap chase (14:55). He got off the mark over fences at Tramore the last day so we’re hoping he can build on that because he’s working well at home. This will be a tougher race, but hopefully he’s up to running well.
