Gavin Cromwell’s William Hill blog: Inothewayurthinkin all systems go for Savills Chase
William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell reacts to Inothewayurthinkin’s run in the John Durkan and lays out plans for Only By Night, Perceval Legallois and Bioluminescence.
Jumping a positive from Inothewayurthinkin in John Durkan
We’re taking the positives from Inothewayurthinkin’s reappearance in the John Durkan. He was flat out all the way and just taken off his feet a bit because they went a ferocious gallop over an inadequate trip for our guy. He was beaten a lot further than last year, but this was a completely different race. Nothing other than Fact To File really got involved in the race with Gaelic Warrior.
I thought he jumped well and he kept himself in the race with his jumping. He stayed going well at the line, so we’ll take those positives out of it. He’s home safe and sound, and that’s all we can really take out of it.
Nothing has changed in our minds about following the same route with the Savills Chase, Irish Gold Cup and Cheltenham Gold Cup. He’s back home and riding out again – it’s all systems go for Christmas.
Only By Night has Tingle Creek option
Only By Night has an entry in the Tingle Creek at Sandown next month. There’s nothing set in stone, but it’s certainly on her radar. The Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon is the next day and she’ll probably have an entry there as well. We’ll see how those races shape up and make a decision closer to the time.
She’s proven she can run against the boys and it’s all about plotting our course to Cheltenham appropriately. There’s no plan set in stone for her, so we’ll be keeping an eye on entries and taking the opportunities when they come. She could have multiple entries throughout the season, and we’ll pick the best options for her.
Bioluminescence set for the William Hill Becher Chase
The William Hill Becher Chase is the plan for Bioluminescence. She’s had the benefit of a run and she’s working well at home. The National fences at Aintree are obviously a bit of a different test, but I don’t think they should be a problem to her. The ground at that meeting, at least in the past few years, has come up on the soft side, and the softer it is, the better for her.
It’s great that William Hill are putting on the Half A Mill bonus for this race and the Grand National. It’s obviously a brilliant bonus to aim for, and if she were to win the William Hill Becher, it’d have to make us think about the National. That said, April is a long way away, so we’ll just be focusing on the Becher for now.”
