Glorious Goodwood Tips & Day 3 Predictions (2025)

The prestigious Group 1 Nassau Stakes is the highlight of the eight-race card for day three of Goodwood Festival.
Other Group races on the afternoon include the Group 2 Richmond Stakes over six furlongs, plus the 1m4f Group 3 Gordon Stakes. Online betting is available for all of these races.
1.20pm – 1m3f Handicap
Trainer William Haggas sends his three-year-old HIGH DEGREE handicapping for the first time on Thursday afternoon, and the colt looks primed to burst onto the scene.
The Too Darn Hot-colt looks a nice horse already, after keeping on well to score at Ffos Las this time, and this race is a natural progression for him.
1.55pm – 6f Richmond Stakes (Group 2)
Eve Johnson Houghton has already been on the score card at Goodwood this week, and she can be so again with her HAVANA HURRICANE.
The two-year-old colt has been in splendid form all season long, winning the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, and finishing runner-up in the Weatherby’s Super Sprint at Newbury. A return to six furlongs should pose him no problems.
2.30pm – 1m4f Gordon Stakes (Group 3)
WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE is yet to win in five starts this season with his last victory coming in the Group Two Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket in the September of 2024.
He has of course been taking on some of the best older horses, and a return to racing against his own age can only be a positive. He’s a very attractive each-way price under Sean D Owen.
3.05pm – 1m4f Nassau Stakes (Group 1)
WHIRL (NAP) is certainly the one they all have to beat, especially now given how well the Pretty Polly runner-up Kalpana ran in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday.
She will be bidding to give Aidan O’Brien a sixth win in the Goodwood race, and who would bet against them achieving it?
3.45pm – 5f Handicap
Course and distance winner RUBY’S PROFIT can return to winning ways at a track she clearly loves.
Third in the Epsom Dash, then beaten just four lengths at Royal Ascot, the Profitable-filly can put up another bold show.
4.20pm – 7f Nursery Handicap
Charlie Johnston’s CHAMPION ISLAND is well worth his place in this Class 2 Handicap and can continue where he left off at Chester.
Just caught in the dying strides on the Roodee, the youngster looks sure to be ridden prominently on Thursday, and with any luck can last home under William Buick.
4.55pm – 7f Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
At a decent price in our current horse racing betting, the Highclere Racing-owned filly TRYST, is an interesting newcomer.
Sired by the Arc winning Sottsass, his progeny have been hitting the frame or winning with regularity throughout the months of June and July, so this girl is well worth an each-way interest first time up.
5.30pm – 1m Handicap
The way SEA FORCE has been performing this term, it’s impossible to see him finish out of the frame in the lucky last on Thursday.
Gelded at the start of July, he was just denied a victory at Ascot twenty days ago, and if he runs to that level again, he can definitely trouble the judge.
