Glorious Goodwood Tips 2026: Thursday’s Best Bets At The Qatar Goodwood Festival
Two days down, three to go – William Hill News preview the third day of the 2026 Qatar Goodwood Festival, with a selection for each race on Thursday at Glorious Goodwood.
13:50 – 1m2f Kincsem Heritage Handicap
The grey gelding DARK WHISPER looked like he could go even further when he won over a mile at Ffos Las last time out.
Trained by David Meneusier, this son of Dark Angel has the perfect pedigree to win a middle-distance handicap like this, especially with Jamie Spencer being in charge of some patient steering.
14:25 – 6f Richmond Stakes (Group 2)
From what we have witnessed from FLANN SUNNA (NAP) so far this season, he’s a pocket rocket who could well bring up his hat-trick at Goodwood.
The Blue Point-colt is held in high regard by the Crisford’s and he holds a solid chance in this Group 2.
15:00 – 1m4f Gordon Stakes (Group 3)
I find it hard to believe that VENETIAN LACE has simply gone “rubbish” overnight, so I will give her the benefit of the doubt one more time over this 1m4f trip.
The filly has clearly had some recent wellbeing issues, but if they’re now resolved, we cannot ignore her excellent run in the 1000 Guineas back in May.
15:35 – 1m2f Nassau Stakes (Group 1)
Unsurprisingly the unbeaten filly DIAMOND NECKLACE is the heavy odds-on favourite in our market to lift the Group 1 Nassau Stakes trophy.
The daughter of St Mark’s Basilica recently completed a dual French Classic double by winning both the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and the Prix de Diane, making her the horse they all have to beat.
16:10 – 5f Buccellati Handicap
At a large price, I’m prepared to take an each-way punt on the Robert Cowell-trained DAZZLING HAZE in this sprint over the minimum trip.
Owners Daniel Macauliffe and Anoj Don have enjoyed some recent successes with their runners in both the UK and France, and this is an ease in grade from his Royal Ascot exertions.
At 25/1 in our sports betting market, I’m predicting the three-year-old can make the podium spots.
16:45 – 7f Whispering Angel Nursery Handicap
Brian Meehan’s CILICIAN (NB) has twice knocked on the door now since finishing down the field in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Connections appear to have found a nice open nursery handicap to start him off in and Tom Marquand is a positive jockey booking.
17:20 – 7f EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
Wootton Bassett-filly SO LOVELY can progress again from her debut run at Leopardstown where she was only just beaten under a length in a one mile maiden.
She’s just one of a small handful of horses who have actually seen a racecourse in this line-up, and that experience will count for a lot.
17:55 – 1m HKJC World Pool Handicap
ELECTRIC DREAMS sparked his season into life 47 days ago at Leicester, and gets into his first handicap off a handy mark of 86.
This Night Of Thunder-colt has all the right breeding credentials to make into a solid handicapper.
